“Fatal Pedestrian vs Train (Cary) Cary FPD were on scene at 5:30 PM of a fatal train vs pedestrian accident near Dunkin Donuts, 630 Northwest Hwy. There was also a rollover vehicle crash near this (separate incident).”
Around 4 pm today emergency personnel were dispatched to an address on Wood ave in Machesney park. Details are minimal, only saying there is a person that has passed away. Police did confirm 10-79. The cause of death is under investigation
Update: The victim has been identified as 77-year-old Michael Brown
This morning we posted a serious accident that happened near Paulson and E Riverside. Officials have now confirmed a 77 year old man is now dead. Officials are saying, He was reported to be traveling northbound on Paulson rd when he pulled out in front of a vehicle that was traveling east on E Riverside. The incident is still under investigation.

Update: The victim is 51-year-old Kevin Gander from Winnebago.
From our friends at Mystateline.com: Gander was also a well-known physician in the Rockford area. He worked for OSF Medical Group at the office on Spring Creek. OSF released a statement saying: “Our OSF colleague and physician, Dr. Kevin Gander was well-liked by his patients. He will be missed by his OSF family and we offer Kevin’s family our deepest sympathy and prayers.”
Update: At 12:12 am they said “The coroner is advised”
Sounds like there might be more than one victim involved in the accident. One confirmed victim, unconfirmed for more.
Around 10:36 pm tonight an officer was attempting to catch up to a vehicle near Auburn st. The vehicle is a Black Chrysler 200. The officer stopped chasing the vehicle. A short time later it crashed through a fence. Sounds like the injuries are life threatening, the officer said he was calling the dispatcher with the extent of the injuries. Possible fatal, but not confirmed. They are requesting the crime scene unit. It crashed near Weldon. Still developing.
Updates: Weldon rd and Winnebago rd, they are diverting traffic. They are trying to contact an Illinois State police Sargent, unknown why at this time.
Just after 4 PM Rockford fire department were dispatched to an address on 18th Ave. Initial scanner traffic is saying there is a burn victim near this location. While en route to the scene, The dispatcher said the person has possibly passed away. They requested a fire investigator to the scene. It is not yet known the cause. This is still developing
UPDATE: Confirmed fatal. RS Fan said the victim was found by his grandson in or near the yard. Officials said the man was burning leaves in the yard and it got out of control, when the victim caught on fire.
Several Rockford Scanner fans have sent us information on a fatal accident that happened overnight near Rochelle.
A man in his 40’s was struck by a train and killed near Washington st. The train (possibly a Union Pacific) was headed westbound. The man was found dead on the tracks.
The cause of the death is under investigation. An autopsy is scheduled. The name has not yet been released.
Around 10:40 am this morning the RPD and RFD were investigating two different death investigation calls.
The first one was dispatched to the 4300 block of Laurie drive.
The second one was dispatched to the 2100 block of 8th st.
Note: These can be anything from medical related, natural causes, or even homicide. They are under investigation, and no information is available.
No other details at the time of writing this.
UPDATE The victim has been identified as 37 year old Janesville resident Christopher Rabuck.
On November 10, 2016 at approximately 1:07 PM there was a traffic accident in Riverside Park located 2000 Riverside Drive. Michael Perry 71 struck a vehicle, a pedestrian, and a power pole. The pedestrian died at the scene.
Perry was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
This incident is still under investigation and no other information about the accident is being released at this time.
The victim’s name is not being release, at this time, to allow for family notifications.

Pursuant to the directive of the Wisconsin Supreme Court, as found in Supreme Court Rule 20:3:6 Trial Publicity, you are advised that a charge is merely an accusation and that a defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
Janesville’s Riverside Park, 2000 Parkside Dr., will be closed for several hours while the police department investigates a traffic crash involving a pedestrian fatality. In addition, the crash involved a power pole causing blockage to park access. Janesville Police Department, Janesville Fire Department, Janesville Public Works, and Alliant Energy are on scene. The investigation is on going and no other details are available at this time.

On Wednesday November 9, 2016 at about 11:45 a.m. patrol officers from the Rockford Police Department responded to Kent Creek adjacent to the 3100 block of Auburn Street in reference to a Death Investigation. The body of 36 year old, Cedric Merriweather, of Rockford was found in the creek by a work crew.
On Thursday November 10, 2016 an autopsy was conducted by the Winnebago County Coroner’s Office. The results revealed that Merriweather died as a result of blunt force trauma and drowning, making his death a Homicide.
Update: A man has been found under the nearby bridge. Reported to have been found by the Winnebago County Inmate Work Crew. Still developing

Rockford police are encrypted so no information from the RPD.
Around 11:55 am this morning the RFD were dispatched to the 3100 block of Auburn st for a person who had passed away. Rockford Fire Department arrived on scene, and said that the RPD were handling the scene and they were going back in service. It is not yet known how the person died. The RPD have not released any information. We will try to post an update if we can.
