The Belvidere Police Department would like to congratulate Officer Joe McDermott, Officer Matthew Korn, and Officer Chris Garcia for earning Alliance Against Intoxicated Motorist awards.

Their efforts in DUI enforcement during the last year have helped to keep our streets safer. We would also like to thank Heather Lopez from AAIM for coming to the Belvidere City Council meeting last night and having the courage to tell her family’s tragic story and to then present our officers with their AAIM awards.

UPDATE:

On Sunday, September 23, 2018 the Belvidere Police Department received a 911 call reporting shots fired in the 2300 block of Fairfield Trail, Belvidere, Il 61008. Belvidere Patrol Officers, Belvidere Fire Dept., and Lifeline Ambulance responded to the area.

On arrival, Belvidere officers located a male in his late 20’s with a single gunshot wound to the torso. Belvidere officers and paramedics rendered first aid until Lifeline ambulance arrived on scene and transported the victim to St. Anthony hospital.

Belvidere officers located a handgun and a male suspect at the scene. The scene was secured, and the suspect was transported to the Belvidere Police Department for questioning.

The victim is in stable condition and has been released from the hospital. The incident is still under investigation

ON THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 6TH, THE BELVIDERE/BOONE COUNTY METRO NARCOTICS UNIT AND BELVIDERE PATROL OFFICERS ARRESTED JONATHAN R. WHITE ON A WARRANT FOR TWO COUNTS OF UNLAWFUL DELIVERY OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE WITHIN 500 FEET OF A SENIOR CITIZEN RESIDENTIAL COMPLEX (CLASS X FELONY) AND ONE COUNT OF UNLAWFUL DELIVERY OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE (CLASS 1 FELONY). WHITE WAS SUBSEQUENTLY LODGED INTO THE BOONE COUNTY JAIL IN LIEU OF $150,000 10% BOND.

THE INVESTIGATION IS ONGOING AND ADDITIONAL CHARGES ARE POSSIBLE. A CLASS X FELONY IS PUNISHABLE BY 6-30 YEARS IN THE DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS. A CLASS 1 FELONY IS PUNISHABLE BY 4-15 YEARS IN THE DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS

Several sources were reporting a scene at a local Walmart.

It happened around 3 pm today at the Walmart in Belvidere.

Reports of a gas leak at the Walmart, and everyone inside the store including the employees had to evacuate the building.

No reports of injuries at the time of writing this.

The cause of the leak, is under investigation.

Around 12:45 pm, several emergency personnel were responding to a possible house fire in the 4200 block of Hearthstone ln

Reports are saying smoke and flames are coming from the garage area. 

Unknown if the house is occupied.

It happened around 1 pm today on Spring Circle in the 4 Seasons Trailer Park. 

A woman approx 60 years old has fallen. When she fell, a knife impaled her chest. 

The knife was still in her chest, when emergency personnel were contacted.

Reports of a head on collision near this intersection. 

A semi is involved, along with up to 3 other vehicles.

Rockford Scanner™: Victim Stabbed in Boone County, Still Developing



 

 

UPDATE:  Belvidere police say there was an argument between two people. One person was stabbed during the argument. Unknown what the argument was about. The injuries are believed to be non life threatening. They said no charges have been filed as of right now, Police are investigating. Suspect is  a black male, 5’9, thin build.

 


Just before 11 pm tonight several emergency personnel were responding to a stabbing in Boone County. 

A subject is at the fire station in belvidere, and needs medical help because he was stabbed. 

353 E 6th st at the fire station. Then were updated with the location of Main and 6th.

No suspect information at this time.

Rockford Scanner™: 2 Arrested For Meth, After A Traffic Stop Near The Belvidere Oasis



 

 

 

On Friday, August 3, 2018, a Boone County Sheriff’s Department K-9 Deputy conducted a traffic stop at the Belvidere Oasis, 2500 Pearl Street, resulting in the arrest of two men on felony drug charges.

Investigators with the Belvidere/Boone County Metro Narcotics Unit were called to assist. During the investigation approximately 18 grams of methamphetamine was seized.

Shaun F. Scardina, age 42, of Rockford, Illinois was charged with one (1) count of Unlawful Possession with Intent to Deliver Methamphetamine (class X felony), and one (1) count of Unlawful Possession of a Methamphetamine (Class 1 felony). Scardina remains in the custody of the Boone County Jail with no bond.

Joshua D. Hobson, age 31, of Peru, Illinois was charged with one (1) count of Unlawful Possession of a Methamphetamine (Class 1 felony). Hobson remains in the custody of the Boone County Jail with no bond.

The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are possible. A class X felony is punishable by 6-30 years in the Department of Corrections. A class 1 felony is punishable by 4-15 years in the Department of Corrections.

Rockford Scanner™: MABAS Toned Out For A Fully Engulfed House Fire

LATEST UPDATE:  Just after 8 pm on July 27, 2018, a call came out for a house fire showing flames at 11102 Meadowlark Ln in Belvidere, IL.  A neighbor who was outside working on her car reported hearing a large explosion, which came from the tires of one of the vehicles exploding due to the heat of the fire.  She helped assist getting the family of four out of the house.  The fire appears to have started in the garage, spreading to the attic and eventually the rest of the house.  A neighboring house also sustained minor siding damage from the heat of the fire. The red cross is helping the family and no injuries are being reported at this time.  There is an unconfirmed report that one fireman might have been hurt, but we can’t confirm that at this time.  A few crews are still on the scene working hot spots at this time.  Fire crews from Capron, Belvidere, District 2, and South Beloit are a few of the departments that responded to the fire.

Several sources were reporting a very serious accident this afternoon. 

It happened around 1:20 pm near Hammertime, 

near Business 20 and Andersen.  

Several people were reported to be injured and several ambulances were dispatched to the scene. 

Extrication crew was also requested to cut at least one person out of the vehicle. 

The cause of the accident is under investigation

 Around 12:45 pm today several emergency personnel were responding to a serious accident in Boone County. 

It happened on Business route 20 near Beaver Valley. 

A motorcycle and a jeep compass were involved in the accident. 

The jeep has rolled over, at least two people are trapped inside and need to be cut out of the vehicle. 

At least 2 injuries were reported.  The jeep is on its side in or near the nearby wooded area. 

Unknown on the motorcyclist condition at this time.

Sources are reporting a police chase that ended up with a rollover accident. 

It happened this afternoon in Boone County near Springborough Drive. That is in the area of Shaw and Spring Creek. 

Reports are saying a vehicle fled from police in Boone County. During the police chase the vehicle crashed and rolled over. 

At least two people were transported to a local hospital.  Reports are saying there is possibly one suspect still loose and two are in custody.  No suspect description at this time.

Around 1:20 pm today, several emergency personnel were responding to a vehicle that blew up and is now on fire. 

It happened near the 700 block of Pearl in Belvidere. 

Details are still preliminary, a vehicle was parked on the side of the road when it blew up.

BREAKING: Around 2 pm today several emergency personnel were on scene of a search and rescue in Belvidere.

It happened in the area of 2324 Lake Shore, in Belvidere

They toned out a MABAS water rescue, for divers only.

They currently have a search and rescue operation on going.

Several emergency personnel from all over the area are en route to assist.

It is not yet known what the missing person looks like.

The City of Belvidere, in partnership with Kids Around the World, will be constructing a playground at the corner of Christi Lane and High Line Dr. in Belvidere. This project was made possible through a grant provided by General Mills.

Dates: June 11, 2018 and June 12, 2018 (June 13, 2018 if there is any inclement weather)

Time: 8:00 am to 4:00 pm

What to Bring: gloves, sunscreen, and work shoes (tools, food, and water will be provided)
