The wintry pattern will turn warmer after this weekend with
temperatures climbing and remaining above freezing from the middle of the week onward.

Heads up! A messy wintry mix including freezing rain may develop across parts of our area Monday afternoon and overnight. Accumulations of ice may occur, especially near Interstate 55 and 57. Stay up to date on the forecast! 

The end is in sight to the bitterly cold temperatures. Wind chills this morning and again tonight will range from 10 to 25 degrees below zero before we warm up Sunday morning and beyond. Bundle up!

…WIND CHILL ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT TONIGHT TO
10 AM CST SUNDAY…

* WHAT…Very cold wind chills expected. Wind chills as low as
25 below zero.

* WHERE…Portions of central, north central and northeast
Illinois.

* WHEN…For the first Wind Chill Advisory, until 9 AM CST this
morning. For the second Wind Chill Advisory, from midnight
tonight to 10 AM CST Sunday.

* IMPACTS…The cold wind chills could cause frostbite on
exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a
hat, and gloves.
