Around 11:40 am this morning an officer crashed his squad car in the area of Warren and State. Scanner traffic is saying an officer crashed into someone near this intersection. The other party involved was requesting medical. The officer was OK. The cause of the accident is under investigation

Around 8:10 am this morning officers were responding to a foot chase in Rockford (Assisting RPD). While an officer was en route, he was involved in a T-Bone accident at Alpine and Harrison. Injuries were being reported at the accident scene. Unknown on the severity of the injuries. Medical was dispatched to the scene. Still developing. Please avoid the area or expect delays

On September 4, 2016, members of the Rockford Specialized Community Oriented Police Enforcement Team were on patrol in the area of 6th Avenue and 11th Street when they observed a vehicle driving recklessly. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle however the driver did not initially comply. Upon reaching the intersection of 6th Avenue and 14th Street, the driver stopped his vehicle in the middle of the intersection. As the officers pulled in behind the vehicle to effect the traffic stop, the driver suddenly put the vehicle in reverse and collided with the squad car. Both vehicles sustained minor damage.
Officers made contact with the driver, who was identified as 21-year-old Chaz A. Liendo. Neither Liendo nor the officers suffered any injuries. Liendo was found to be in possession of a switchblade knife. Liendo was charged with the listed offenses:
Unlawful Use of a Weapon
Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol
Numerous traffic offenses
Liendo was lodged in the Winnebago County Jail.
