Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse Arrest
On 12/3/16 at 6:00 P.M., Ogle County Detectives, with the assistance of the Rockford Police Department, arrested Faustino Ramirez, age 30 of Rochelle, for Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse, a Class 2 Felony. The arrest stems from an investigation reported on 12/2/16 in which Ramirez had sexual contact with a female juvenile in rural Rochelle. Ramirez was transported to the Ogle County Jail where he was without bond. On 12/4/16 Ramirez’s bond was set at $250,000, 10% applies, and he remains in custody.
On November 14, 2016, at approximately 00:22 AM, a citizen walked into the DeKalb Police Department to speak with an officer. The officer met with Kela Moss who advised there was an incident that occurred yesterday in her apartment, and that there was a body inside. Moss turned over her keys and gave officers permission to enter her residence.
Officers responded to Moss’s apartment to check the well being of an unknown person. Officers entered the apartment and located a deceased male lying on the floor. Officers exited the apartment, secured the scene and applied for a search warrant. The search warrant was signed by a DeKalb County Judge and the search warrant was executed at 419 S. 1st Street.
The victim was identified as a 25 year old male who also resides at this location. The victim sustained visible injuries to his neck. An autopsy was performed and the cause of death was determined to be from strangulation.
The investigation has shown that Moss and the victim were in a dating relationship.
Kela Moss, 26 years of age, was charged with four counts of First Degree Murder. Moss’s bond was set at $5,000,000 dollars, 10% to apply. Moss was transported to the DeKalb County Jail awaiting bond.

Ogle County Sheriff’s Office announces Byron residence fire is suspicious.
10/19/2016 at 0632 Byron Fire Protection District, Byron Police Department and Ogle County Sheriff’s Office personnel responded to a report of smoke in a residence at 2020 Silverthorn Lane, Byron, IL. First responders located a 3 yoa male, later identified as Amos Meyer, unconscious in the front yard. Ogle County Coroner’s Office confirmed Margaret Meyer as the second victim on 10/21/16. Investigators have determined the fire started on the night of 10/18/16.
The cause of the fire and their two deaths are being investigated by the Byron Police Department, Ogle County Sheriff’s Office, Illinois State Police and Illinois State Fire Marshal. Although the cause of the fire is still unknown, it is suspicious in nature. The Ogle County Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone who may know something about the fire or saw anything suspicious in the Byron area on the night of 10/18/16, to contact the Ogle County Sheriff’s Office at 815-732-2136. Callers can also contact the Ogle/Lee Crime Stoppers at 888-228-4488. Crime Stoppers will pay up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest.
Around 6:30 am this morning emergency personnel were dispatched to the 2000 block of Silverthorn ave in reference to a house fire. When emergency personnel arrived on scene they confirmed a fire. A child and a woman were located inside the house near the living room area, and passed away. The cause of the deaths are under investigation. No other information at this time

East Lincoln Highway will be closed between Dodge Av and Evans Av due to a motor vehicle accident. Please avoid the area and seek an alternate route. To access downtown DeKalb from the East Please use Peace Rd to Fairview Dr to S 4th Street. We will notify you when the road is re-opened
Just before 1 pm today emergency personnel were dispatched to the area of the 8600 block of Bluejay Lane near Byron. There is reports of a structure fire near this location.

Yesterday the Ogle County Sheriff was searching for 76 year old Robert Thingvold of rural Stillman Valley, last seen in the area of 6000 N. Hales Corner Rd. wearing gray sweatpants and a purple shirt. He has a medical history of dementia and Parkinsons disease. He walks hunched over.
The emergency personnel brought in a helicopter to search for him.
