Rockford Scanner™: Man Wanted For Shooting A Woman In The Head At A Rockford Child Care Facility




 

Winnebago County State’s Attorney Marilyn Hite Ross announces charges against a man for a shooting that happened near a Rockford Child Care Facility in July.

On July 17th, 2019, Rockford Police Officers were dispatched to the area of Broadway and 24th Street in reference to a shooting.  Upon arrival, Officers met with witnesses who said several shots were fired from the inside of a dark colored vehicle that drove past the Tender Beginnings Learning Center in the 2700 Block of Broadway.

A woman, later identified at Brooke Brauer, was struck by the gunfire and transported to a Rockford hospital where she was treated and released. Rockford Police Violent Crimes Detectives conducted a follow up investigation that was reviewed by the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office.  As a result Attempt First Degree Murder, Aggravated Battery with a Firearm, and Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm charges have been authorized against Deondre N. Friar (DOB: 2/18/1995).

Attempt First Degree Murder is a Class X Felony that is punishable by a special sentence of 31 years to Natural Life in the Illinois Department of Corrections followed by three years of Mandatory Supervised Release.

Aggravated Battery with a Firearm is a Class X Felony that is punishable by a sentence of 6-30 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections followed by three years of Mandatory Supervised Release.

Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm is a Class 1 Felony that is punishable by a sentence of 4-15 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections followed by three years of Mandatory Supervised Release.

The charges are merely allegations and the defendant is presumed innocent until or unless proven guilty in a court of law.

 








 

Rockford Scanner™: Home Invasion on The East Side




 

On Thursday, August 1st, 2019 at approximately 0235 hours Rockford Police Officers were dispatched to the 2300 block of 12th Ave. reference a Home Invasion.

Victims advised they were in the residence when the suspects forced open the back door and entered the residence armed with handguns. Suspects took personal property from the victims prior to fleeing the area on foot in an unknown direction.

No injuries were reported.

Suspects were described as 4 unknown race males wearing dark clothing armed with handguns.

They said police have tazed a subject.

Medical was needed.

It is unclear why the police tazed the subject, at the time of writing this.

It happened around 2:45 am this morning in the 100 block of Jasmine ave. That is reported to be in the Rolling Meadows.

Rockford Scanner™: Woman Assaulted During A Violent Home Invasion in Rockford




Sources are reporting a violent home invasion in Rockford. 

It happened a little after 2 am in the 200 block of Avon. That is very close to the RPD district 1 HQ. 

3 Black male suspects committed a home invasion and assaulted a woman. 

They are described as 3 black males, all wearing masks, all wearing dark hooded shirts. Last seen near the rear alleyway on foot.

On Thursday, August 1st, 2019 at approximately 0242 hours Rockford Police Officers were dispatched to 200 S. Avon St. reference a Home Invasion.  Victim advised they were at the residence when suspects kicked in the front door to the residence.  Victim confronted the 3 suspects at the front door and a struggle ensued.  Victim was able to flee from the residence.  Suspects fled in an unknown direction from residence.  Victim was transported to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries.  Unknown if any property was taken.  Suspects were described as unknown race males armed with handguns.

Rockford Scanner™: Victim Just Shot in Rockford, Still Developing




Update: 1 confirmed shooting victim. The male victim is reported to be dead outside by a tree. Unconfirmed reports are saying there are 2 more victims as well.  1 confirmed, 3 possible shooting victims.

A man was shot in the chest at the same location the night before around 2 am. The victim self transported to a nearby hospital. It is unknown if these 2 shootings are related.  (Man shot in the chest last night, Man murdered tonight with possibly 2 more victims at the same location within 24 hours)

Police are currently using dogs to track the scent of the suspect in this murder.  That suspect is described as a Black male wearing a White shirt and was last seen running westbound in the yards.

Sources are reporting a shooting victim in Rockford.

It happened just after 2 am in the 1200 block of 8th st. Google maps shows it to be near 12th ave. 

Details are minimal right now. 

Approx. 5-8 shots were fired according to sources who live near the location. 

At least one  shooting victim near this location. We have been told it is a fatal, but not yet confirmed. 

Suspect is described as a Black male with a White shirt, last seen on westbound through the yards on  foot in the area. 

No other information.


 Source who lives nearby said: ”  I woke up from a dead sleep telling my daughter to get on the ground. This happened just 4 days ago also during the day (shots fired) while police where already on scene but they didn’t care there were 4 shots fired no one hit then! ”


MURDER INVESTIGATION: A 32-year-old man was found outside an apartment building in the 1200 block of 8th Street suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. He was pronounced deceased on the scene. Detectives from the Violent Crimes Unit are conducting a follow up investigation into the incident which does not appear to be random.

 








 

Rockford Scanner™: Shooting Incident in Rockford, Police Investigating




At approximately 2:20 pm on July 31, 2019, officers from the Rockford Police Department responded to the area of Court St and King St in reference to a large group of males arguing in the street. As officers approached the area another call came in advising of shots being fired in the area of Auburn St and Evelyn St.

Officers determined that the subjects that had been arguing had relocated, and were the same subjects that were involved in the area where the shots were fired. Officers located spent shell casings in the area, and two unoccupied parked vehicles that were struck by gunfire.

Rockford Scanner™: Suspects Stealing Catalytic Converters In Loves Park/Machesney park Area




In recent weeks we have gotten several reports of suspects stealing the catalytic  converters off of vehicles in the Loves Park/Machesney park area.

Suspects are reported to be several black males in a dark colored truck (Suburban or similar)  with tinted windows.  They are stealing them overnight.  The older black male does the theft while all the younger black males stay inside the vehicle.

1 suspect gets out of the vehicle while the rest are inside the truck and are lookouts and security if needed for the suspect. Reports are saying they are armed with a duffel bag that has the tools and a gun in it.

The photo below the suspects were able to remove 2 bolts but unsuccessfully the 3rd bolt, To get the converter.

Reports are saying a local business  is buying these stolen catalytic converters. And are aware they are stolen. And still continue to buy them.
