RPD is investigating a shooting death in the 2300 block of Clover Avenue. Violent Crime detectives are on scene. More information will follow as it becomes available.

Sources are reporting a scene on the west side.
Just after 5 am, there was a man in the street near Rockton ave and Sharon, across from the Mercy Hospital. He was bleeding very heavily from the head area.
Numerous police officers and the crime scene unit were on the scene. They put crime scene tape up in the vicinity. And blocked the area off.
Not yet known what happened. Several sources said the man was shot in the head. Another source said it appeared to be a hit and run to a pedestrian.
But the RPD labeled the call as a “Medical Assist”
As of 8 am (3 hours later) it is still taped off.
Update: At 9 am, they requested the RFD for a “washdown”
On Saturday, September 8, 2018, at approximately 5:00 a.m., officers from the Rockford Police Department responded to the 2200 block of Sharon Avenue in reference to a complaint of a subject laying in the street. Upon arrival to the area, officers located a Hispanic male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
Rockford Fire Department responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital where he later died. The name of the victim is not being released at this time, pending notification of the family.
The Rockford Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance and would like to encourage anyone with information regarding this investigation to please call the Rockford Police Department at 815-966-2900.

Sources are reporting a murder near the Janesville area.
The victim was at the Mercy Hospital and was being treated when he passed away from his injuries.
The victim was stabbed in the chest area.
The victim Robert Thomas jr approx. 26 years old from Janesville.
The suspect Sarina Stone (Sp?) approx. 20 years old from Janesville was arrested for 1st degree murder.
The suspect and the victim got into an argument in the 2700 block of Wall st, then she stabbed him in the chest. After stabbing him in the chest she drove him to the emergency room.
This is the 1st homicide in 2018 in Janesville.
Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office have charged 18-year-old Logan Wunder of South Beloit with 1 Count First Degree Murder, 1 Count Attempted Murder, and 1 Count Aggravated Battery with a Firearm.
A 17-year-old South Beloit boy was also charged with a pending criminal cased not related to this incident.
Further charges are pending until the investigation is complete.
UPDATE – 9 PM:
A 22-year-old white male has died at a Rockford hospital after suffering from a gunshot wound to his head during a shooting Saturday afternoon just before 2 pm in the area of 100 S. Lincoln Street in South Beloit, IL. The remaining two victims include; a 21-year-old man who is in critical condition at a Rockford hospital with a gunshot wound to the leg and abdomen, and a 19-year-old man who is in critical condition with a gunshot wound to the upper chest. He was transported to a Janesville hospital and later transferred to a Madison hospital.
The two shooting victims have been able to provide police with a name and description of the individual who shot them. While witnesses have provided police with a description and name of the second suspect who was with the shooter. The two suspects are described as a white males, that fled the scene in a maroon colored Chrysler vehicle.
About an hour and a half later, the two suspects turned themselves into the South Beloit Police Department. They have since been transported to the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Department for further questioning. At this time, charges are pending for both suspects and more details won’t be available until after questioning has been finished and the Winnebago State’s Attorney can look over the evidence from the case.
The Winnebago County Sheriff’s Department is currently assisting the South Beloit Police Department with the investigation. The Beloit Police Department, the Rockton Police Department, and the Roscoe Police Departments all assisted at the scene of the shooting this afternoon.
UPDATE: Around 2 pm Saturday afternoon, an altercation between 5 male individuals led to shots fired and three gun shot victims. The suspects in this shooting are said to be around 18 years old and fled from the scene in a red car.
One victim was shot in the head and is in critical condition, while the other two victims are in serious condition.
Details are very minimal at this time, but just after 2 pm, a call went out for three shooting victims in the area of Center St and Lincoln St in South Beloit. South Beloit Fire department has asked for mutual aid from Rockton Fire Department and Beloit Fire Department. South Beloit Fire Department has also just requested for additional paramedics to respond to the scene. This is still developing, so please check back for more details.

The man approx. 37 years old, has died.
Several sources are reporting a fatal shooting in Rockford over night.
The shooting happened on Harlem. The male shooting victim was reported to have been shot in the head and was laying in the driveway.
The victim is reported to be around 37 years old.
Suspects are in a Red Suburban, last seen towards the Auburn st bridge.
Winnebago County Coroners office says 42-year-old Elizabeth Marquez died from multiple stab wounds.
On July 6, 2018, at approximately 7: 15 a.m., officers from the Rockford Police Department were called to a residence in the 2700 block of Norway Pine Road. There, they found a 42-year-old female, later identified as Elizabeth Marquez, deceased from apparent stab wounds. The victim’s husband, Noe Marquez, and two juvenile children were also located inside the residence. Noe Marquez was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The two juveniles were unharmed.
Detectives are conducting a follow-up investigation into the incident. The cause of death for Elizabeth Marquez is unknown at this time. The Winnebago County Coroner’s Office has scheduled an autopsy for a later date.
During the course of the investigation detectives were made aware of an incident that occurred at the same residence on Thursday, June 28th, 2018. That information was later reviewed by the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office. As a result, charges were authorized against Noe Marquez for the June 28th incident. Noe was later lodged in the Winnebago County Jail.

The charges against Noe Marquez are merely accusations and not evidence of his guilt. As with defendants in all criminal cases he is considered innocent unless proven guilty in court.

DEATH INVESTIGATION: On July 6, 2018, at approximately 7:15 a.m., officers were called to the 2700 block of Norway Pine Road. There, they found a 42-year-old female deceased from apparent stab wounds. Her final cause of death is pending an autopsy from the Winnebago County Coroner.
A 50-year-old male victim was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Two children, a seven year old and a 12 year old, were at home at the time but were not harmed.
The incident appears to be domestic related, however, it is an active and ongoing investigation. Further information will be disseminated once it’s available.

Death Investigation- South Beloit
SOUTH BELOIT, IL – On June 10, 2018 at 12:13 am South Beloit Police Officers were sent to a residence in the 2200 block of Blackhawk Blvd. regarding a man with a gun. The female caller stated her husband had a gun, fired a shot and was threatening. The woman also advised that her father-in-law and her small children were in a tent in the back yard. As officers arrived they made contact with the 38 year old male in the front yard who possessed a handgun. The officers retreated to cover and called for assistance from the Rockton and Roscoe Police Department and the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office. Officers began a dialogue with the male but he retreated into the residence. A short time later the male exited the rear of the home and walked to the side yard with the gun pointed to his head. He walked to a wooded area and discharged two shots, came back out into the open and fired one round into his head. South Beloit Fire Department personnel were on scene and immediately began attending to the male. He was later transported to a local hospital but died from his injury.
Officers checked the rear yard and located tents, one of which was occupied by two young female children and one deceased 64 year old male. The children were uninjured and were reunited with their mother.. The deceased 64 year old male had apparent gunshot wounds to his upper body.
This is considered a domestic violence incident and no other persons are sought in connection to the incident. The Winnebago County Sheriff’s Department and Coroner’s Office are assisting the South Beloit Police Department and this case is still under investigation. Names of the two males will not be released until next of kin are notified
Just after midnight on Sunday the South Beloit police responded to the 2200 block of Blackhawk Road near S. Beloit
Police arrived on scene and negotiations were taken place between a man and the police.
During the negotiations, the man walked out to the backyard where some tents were with children in them and an older gentleman.
Police heard some gunshots, during the negotiations. They later found out the man shot and killed a 64-year-old man in the upper body.
Then the man shot himself in the head.
The children were not injured.

At approximately 11:48 PM Rockford Police Officers responded to a local hospital in reference to a walk in shooting victim. Upon arrival Officers learned the shooting occurred in the 1300 block of E. State Street. The victim was in stable condition. No suspect information at this time. Anyone with information in regards to this incident is encouraged to contact the Rockford Police Department.
