Rockford Scanner™: Garbage Truck Dumps His Load, After It Catches On Fire in Machesney park

Sources are reporting a garbage truck on fire in Machesney Park.  It happened this afternoon in the 1200 block of Drexel. 

Reports of a garbage truck on fire. The driver dumped the load into the street, to save the truck.  There was a large debris of garbage in the roadway on fire.

Emergency personnel were on scene quickly and was able to get the situation under control.  The cause of the fire is under investigation.

No injuries were reported.

When I was leaving the scene, they had a tractor getting ready to clean up the scene. So it should be cleared by now, if not then it should be shortly.

Rockford Scanner™: Head On Collision, Reports Of Having To Cut Victim Out Of The Vehicle


UPDATE: Female victim was transported to a local hospital via the helicopter, with life threatening injuries.

Sources are reporting around 6:45 am this morning, several emergency personnel were responding to a head on collision. It happened in the area of Baxter and Lindenwood.

Initial reports are saying there is a head on collision near this intersection.

Extrication is being requested to cut a victim out of a vehicle.

Injuries are being reported.  Sources are saying it appears to be serious.

Avoid the area or expect delays. Still developing.

UPDATE: Sounds like a medical helicopter is en route to the scene. Possible garbage truck involved. A female in her 30’s has life threatening injuries and is being transported to a local E.R. via the emergency helicopter.


Rockford Scanner™: Loves Park Residents Get New Garbage Carts




 Beginning on Friday, July 6th, residents of the City of Loves Park will notice something new with curbside garbage pick-up.

The City of Loves Park and Rock River Disposal have agreed to provide all residential customers with new garbage carts. Each resident, over the coming weeks, will be provided a 96 gallon garbage cart and a 65 gallon recycle cart.

These carts are being provided free of charge to be used by residents for curbside pickup.
