Rockford Scanner™: Police Release Information On A Fatal Accident That Killed A Rockford Woman


This is a follow-up to our original Press Release on Saturday, 08-24-2019, concerning a two vehicle accident on Afolkey Road, near Mill Road in which one individual was fatally injured.

During the investigation of the accident, it was found that a Toyota Camry driven by Amya Fleming, age 19, of Freeport was traveling south bound on Afolkey Road, when it crossed the center line striking a Mercury Mariner driven by Caitlin Robinson, age 21, of Rockford Illinois.

Caitlin Robinson was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. Amya Fleming was transported by Lifeline helicopter to OSF St. Anthony’s hospital for injuries sustained in the crash. Amya Fleming is currently listed in critical, but stable condition. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.

Around 9 m tonight there is a house that is fully engulfed near US 20 and 73. 

The house is fully engulfed. Unknown on injuries.  

Police have shut down US 20 and are diverting traffic. 



Rockford Scanner™: Man found dead, police are investigating

UPDATE: Officials said that Mr. Fort was beaten and assaulted in the 600 block of West Stephenson. Then was dumped in a vacant lot in the 500 block of East Iroquois.  Police do not believe this is a random attack.

The victim has been identified as 45-year-old Thomas Fort. Police have taped off a house in the 600 block of West Stephenson, that is related to the scene. Still developing.

Death investigation near Freeport

It happened around 7:00 am this morning in the 500 block of East Iroquois Ave near Freeport.

Reports of an adult male was found dead near this location.

We’ve been told he was murdered, The police are saying it is a death investigation.

No other information at this time.



Rockford Scanner™: Burglary To A Local Business, Police Capture 1 Suspect, Another on The Loose

Sources are reporting a burglary to a business.

It happened just after 6 am this morning at the Cedar Inn at 4747 IL-26, Freeport, IL.

2 males broke into the business.

Police were able to capture one of the suspects.

The other suspect that got away is only described as a male wearing a dark Gray hoodie, last seen westbound.

Several police are reported to be on scene along with a police K-9.


Rockford Scanner™: Police Raid A House, Multiple People Arrested

Freeport, IL. – Execution of a search warrant results in the arrests of three (3) Freeport residents.

On April 10th, 2019, at approximately 6:15 AM, the Freeport Police Department Emergency Response Team (ERT) assisted the Stateline Area Narcotics Team (SLANT) with the execution of a search warrant at a home in the 500 block of E. Madison Street in Freeport.

During a search of the residence the following evidence was recovered; approximately 39 grams of Cocaine, approximately 74.2 grams of Cannabis, a .22 caliber pistol, and $874 United States Currency. The ensuing investigation resulted in the arrests of two men and one woman who were present when the search warrant was executed.

Kenneth Moore (age 44) of the 500 block of E. Madison Street in Freeport was charged with Unlawful Possession with Intent to Deliver 15-100 grams of Cocaine (19CF99). Kenneth Moore’s bond has been set at $100,000 – 10% applies and he is being held at the Stephenson County Jail.

Thamini Erving (age 36) of the 800 block of E. Wyandotte Street in Freeport was arrested on an outstanding arrest warrant related to a 2016 arrest for felony firearms possession and Unlawful Possession with Intent to Deliver Controlled Substances (16CF276). Specifically, Thamini Erving’s warrant stems from his failure to report to jail after having been released on a medical furlough on August 10th, 2018. The bond on Thamini Erving’s warrant was set at $350,000 – 10% applies and he is being held at the Stephenson County Jail.

Sierra Scott (age 22) of the 300 block of W. Homer Street in Freeport was arrested on an outstanding felony arrest warrant obtained by SLANT for the offense of Unlawful Delivery of a Controlled Substance (18CF291). The offense date for Sierra Scott’s charge is 5-21-18 and Scott’s bond is $75,000 – 10% applies. Sierra Scott is being held at the Stephenson County Jail.

Rockford Scanner™: Serious Accident Near Freeport, Possible Illinois State Trooper Killed


UPDATE:   ISP BROADCAST from Illinois State Police. BROOKE JONES-STORY has passed away in the line of duty.

Eyewitness told us: “We were behind the semi, he hit the cop car I seen the tire fly off I believe the cop car then he swerved to the right and hit the semi pulled over in the front, he then went into the ditch and exploded. I called 911. We went back and when the cops started running we went through the ditch and left”



PECATONICA, IL – Illinois State Police (ISP) Acting Director Brendan F. Kelly regretfully announces the line-of-duty death of ISP District 16 (Pecatonica) Trooper Brooke Jones-Story.

This afternoon, March 28, 2019, at approximately 11:24 a.m., Trooper Brooke Jones-Story, #5966, was inspecting a commercial motor vehicle on United States Route 20 westbound, just west of Illinois Route 75 in Stephenson County. At approximately 12:20 p.m., Trooper Jones-Story was outside her squad car when she was struck and fatally wounded when a truck tractor semi-trailer combination struck her squad car and the semi Trooper Jones-Story was inspecting.

“Today is a dark day for the Illinois State Police family. This is the six-year anniversary of the death of another Trooper, and now another brave soul, Trooper Brooke Jones-Story, has made the ultimate sacrifice for people of this state. At this very moment, the men and women of the ISP are responding and focused on the job and mission, because that’s what Trooper Jones-Story would do,” stated Acting Director Kelly.

Trooper Jones-Story was a 12-year veteran of the Illinois State Police District 16 in Pecatonica.

Additional information will be released once it becomes available.

Sources are reporting a very serious accident near Freeport.

UPDATE: The female trooper was killed approx. 12:20 pm. 

We been told there is an accident on US 20 near Freeport.
In the westbound lanes of US 20 near 75.

Two semi’s and a state trooper vehicle were involved in the accident.

Travis Wilson said “ISP had a semi pulled over and another semi crashed into them.”

Sources have said they have closed down US 20. US to Business 20 east of Freeport to IL 26. This is closed down until further notice while they investigate this terrible accident scene.



Rockford Scanner™: One Person Ejected, Rollover Accident. Still Developing

Sources are reporting a serious accident near Freeport.

It happened around 12:30 am in the 3600 block of N Dakota rd.

A vehicle has rolled over and at least one person has been ejected from the vehicle.  Injuries were being reported. Sounds like they might be life threatening, but not yet confirmed.

Rockford Scanner™: Area Fire Departments Requested To Assist Flooding Evacuations in Freeport

Sources are reporting several area fire departments were requested to assist emergency personnel in evacuations in downtown Freeport around 1:30 pm today.

Staging area was near a bridge in downtown Freeport.

We have no heard any injuries.

Just evacuations from the rapidly rising flood waters.

Rockford Scanner™: 3 People Shot At A Bar in Stephenson County, 2 Dead

At approx. 1:50am on February 3rd 2019, Deputies from the Stephenson County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the Cedar Inn Bar in Cedarville IL for a report of a fight and possible shots fired.

Deputies arrived on scene to find three subjects with gunshot injuries. The scene was secured and the investigation is ongoing. One subject was pronounced dead at the scene and a second succumbed to his injuries at Rockford Memorial Hospital. A third subject was taken to Freeport Memorial for treatment. A suspect has been taken into custody and there is no additional threat to the Community.

A Press Conference has been scheduled for February 4, 2019 at 10am at the Sheriff’s Office located in the Stephenson County Courthouse.

Deputies were assisted at the scene by the Lena Police Department, The Freeport Police Department, Leamon’s Ambulance, Freeport City Ambulance, The Stephenson County Coroner’s Office and Illinois State Police Crime Scene Services

Sources are reporting 3 people have been shot, 2 of then are dead.

It happened around 2 am Sunday morning.

One person is in custody.  No name has yet to be released.

One victim died at the scene, another died at a Rockford hospital. The 3rd victim is being treated at a local hospital.

Sounds like it started off as a fight then shots rang out.
Killing 2 and seriously injuring the 3rd victim.
