Several Rockford Scanner fans said there are multiple officers, crime scene unit, and crime scene tape in the area of Elm and Maple in Machesney Park.

The parade route will travel from Schneider Electric parking lot on Clifford Ave., turn north on Elm Ave., turn left onto Roosevelt Rd., cross N. 2nd St. & will disassemble in the south side parking lot of the Machesney Towne Center.
Around 10:53 pm tonight a broadcast came over the un-encrypted airwaves of the Winnebago County Sheriff frequency, of an armed robbery that happened in the area of Elm and Waveland. The suspects are described as:
- Black male, 5’11, 220 lbs
- Black male, 5’11, 190 lbs
- Unknown race, 5’11, 150 lbs
No other information is available, due to the Rockford police being encrypted
At 2300 hours Officers were sent to a residence in the 1200 block of Elm street reference a home invasion with shots being fired inside the house. The suspect fled the location prior to officers arriving. The home owner indicated that he heard someone talking on his back porch. When the homeowner opened the back door an unknown person attempted to kick the door open and come into the home. The homeowner struggled with the suspect over the door at which time the suspect pointed a handgun inside the partially opened door and fired one time into the floor. The homeowner was able to close the door on the suspect and the suspect fled on foot. There were no reported injuries. This investigation is currently ongoing
