Yesterday was a pretty violent day in the Rockford area.

Around 11:25 pm tonight several units were dispatched to the 500 block of Northwestern ave in S. Beloit. Scanner traffic is saying there is a violent domestic between a 16 year old female and her 19 year old boyfriend. The female is saying her boyfriend beat her and attempted to stab her during the fight. There is an infant on site as well. The female was able to get away and run to the nearby police station. They have requested medical for the female. Still developing
We are investigating an armed robbery that occurred last night (10/26) just after 8pm at Rocky’s Grocery on St. Lawrence. During this robbery, male subjects entered the store and one of them struck the owner with a handgun before robbing him of cash from the register. The 2 then ran off from the area. Fortunately, the owner was treated at the scene by BFD Paramedics for minor injuries.
If you live around that area and remember any suspicious people, cars, or anything else that might be helpful, we would love to know about it. We know that many folks may have cameras on the outside of your house, so if you live near that area and can check for just before that time, and a few minutes after, we would really appreciate it. Officers were out in the area knocking on doors after this occurred, but we know we might not have talked to everyone. SAMUEL E VALADEZ, 24 years old of Harvard, Illinois was charged with Aggravated Battery, great bodily harm, (class 3 felony). Valadez remains in the Boone County Jail with no bond. A class 3 felony is punishable by two (2) to five (5) years in the Department of Corrections.
3 – 17 year old males of Belvidere, Harvard, and Poplar Grove, Illinois were also arrested and lodged into the Winnebago County Juvenile Detention Center.
On Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at approximately 5:15 pm Belvidere Patrol Officers, and Boone County Deputies responded to the 300 block of W. Lincoln Ave. for a fight in progress. Officers arrived on scene with Lifeline Ambulance, and Belvidere Fire Department personnel and began performing first aid on a 19 year old male who had been the victim of an Aggravated Battery. Lifeline Ambulance transported the victim to St. Anthony Hospital where his condition was stabilized but critical.
Belvidere Police Officers and Detectives began a preliminary investigation and identified several witnesses who provided suspect information. Boone County Deputies located several subjects in the area of W. Jackson St. and Garden Drive. After conducting suspect and witness interviews, the Boone County State’s Attorney’s Office authorized Aggravated Battery charges against Valadez. Two of the four individuals who were arrested had a gang affiliation but it is unknown at this time if the reason for this senseless crime was motivated by those gang ties.
The Belvidere Police have reason to believe there were additional witnesses with the victim just prior to these events that have not come forward. UPDATE: CRIME STOPPERS: Police believe two suspects are responsible for an October 10th theft at Sears inside the Cherryvale Mall. Police say the suspects fled in a green,4-door 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix with a sunroof and Illinois license plates P506151.
This afternoon officers were dispatched to the Cherryvale mall for a retail theft at Sears. the suspects rammed their vehicle into an officer (unknown on injuries) They have an aggravated battery to a police officer charge on them because of this. The suspects are two black males around 21 years old. They fled in a 1998 green grand am. They were last seen northbound on Perryville.
There are 4 squads, a patty wagon and an undercover. The side door of sears is police tapped off.
On September 30, 2016 around 1:00PM Rockford Police Department Officers responded to a Rockford local hospital to speak to a 60 year old male victim of a Robbery. The victim told police he was leaving a business in the 1200 block of Broadway when a black female kicked and punched him several times and took an undisclosed amount of US Currency from his wallet. The victim received non-life threatening injuries.
The victim described the suspect as the following:
Black Female, 47-50 years old, 5’7″ tall and medium build. She was wearing a light bue colored baseball cap, light blue sweatshirt with white lettering on the front and dark blue pants.
