On June 14, 2019 at approximately 2:00pm, South Beloit Police Officers conducted a search warrant at 821 Marvin St. A search of the residence revealed approximately 6 pounds of suspected cannabis and 3.8 grams of suspected cocaine.
This case was reviewed by the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office whom authorized the following charges:
Arrested: 20 year old Jalen K. Olander of South Beloit, IL
Charge: Possession with the Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance within 500 feet of a Park (Class X Felony)
Charge: Possession with the Intent to Deliver Cannabis (Class 1 Felony)
Charge: Obstructing Justice (Class 4 Felony)
Charge: Contributing to the Delinquency or Criminal Delinquency of a Minor (Class A Misdemeanor)
Charge: Endangering the Life or Health of a Child (Class A Misdemeanor)
Jalen was lodged in the Winnebago County Jail.
The charges against him are accusations and he is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
On June 4, 2019 at 5:00 am, members of the South Beloit Police Department conducted a search warrant at 1710 Gardner St., Tollway Inn. Two subjects were located in the room and taken into custody. A search of the room revealed approximately 23 grams of suspected heroin, 61 grams of suspected cannabis, drug paraphernalia, and cash.
This case was reviewed by the Winnebago County States Attorney’s Office and the following charges were authorized:
Arrested: 32 year old Jerrell S. Cotman of Chicago, IL
Charge: Possession with the intent to deliver a controlled substance (Class X Felony)
Charge: Possession with the intent to deliver cannabis (Class 3 Felony)
Arrested: 28 year old Morgan D. Golden of Beloit, WI
Charge: Possession of drug paraphernalia (Class A Misdemeanor)
Charge: Obstructing Identification (Class A Misdemeanor)
Jerrell and Morgan were lodged in the Winnebago County Jail and are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law
On Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at approximately 0630 hours, the Rockton Police Department observed a female in need of assistance in downtown Rockton. The female reported that she had been taken by force from a retail establishment in Rockford by her ex-boyfriend on Tuesday evening. She reported that she was taken to the Sugar River Forest Preserve in rural Winnebago County where she was beaten, strangled and sexually assaulted. The female victim was able to escape from the suspect at a local gas station in Rockton.
Winnebago County Sheriff’s Deputies assisted Rockton Police and Roscoe Police in taking the suspect into custody after a short pursuit along IL Route 2 and IL Route 75. The suspect fought with Deputies and Officers who were able to safely take him into custody.
Winnebago County Sheriff’s Detectives took over the investigation and after speaking with the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office, charges were authorized and the suspect was lodged in the Winnebago County Jail. The follow person was charged:
625 ILCS 5.0/11-204.1-A-1 AGG FLEEING POLICE/21 MPH OVER
625 ILCS 5.0/6-303-A DRIVING RVK/SUSP DUI/SSS 3RD
No bond, court date 5/16/2019 at 13:30
Sources are reporting a battery/kidnapping in Rockton this morning.
We sat on this story to see if police would release information on it.
Police have yet to release any information on it, so we are posting it.
It happened just before 7 am in Rockton, near Blackhawk and Main.
Sources said a suspect brutally beat and kidnapped a victim in Rockton. Unknown on the victims status at the time of writing this.
Suspect was last seen near the library in Rockton. Police located the suspect and the suspect fled from police. Police chased the suspect.
Sources said the police were chasing the suspect on Rt 2 southbound, around 90 MPH. But were able to capture him on RT 2 near Blackhawk. (See photos) The police broke out the windows of the vehicle and detained the suspect in the middle of RT 2.
This brings up the next topic: Local police said they were going to be transparent, when encrypting. We feel the police should have at least released some kind of information on this very DANGEROUS incident. But they have yet to do so…

Update: Police have confirmed the kidnapping call but have downplayed it and said it was a “Simple Kidnapping” and that one person was in custody. No other information was released.
On Monday, April 15, 2019 the Victory Slots located at 314 S. Park Avenue was burglarized at approximately 3:45 am. The suspect entered the building by breaking the door window at the rear and then pried open two gaming machines.
Video surveillance shows a white male, possibly wearing cargo pants, a gray colored sweatshirt with writing on the front of it, a black or dark hooded shirt under the sweatshirt and red shoes.
The subject appeared to be wearing gloves and had a mask over his face. The suspect entered a dark colored sedan that was parked across the street in the Bubbles and Bows parking lot.

On Monday, December 10, 2018 at approximately 1:20 p.m., the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Department was dispatched to the 9200 block of Knapp Rd. in rural Winnebago County for a deceased male. Deputies found a deceased male off the roadway in a tree line. It appeared as if the male was intentionally disposed of at this location and did not live in the area.
An autopsy was performed by the Winnebago County Coroner’s Office and the victim was identified as Jamie R. Stephens (age 31) of Rockford and the cause of death was due to several gunshot wounds.
On January 23, 2019, Winnebago County Sheriff’s Detectives arrested Nickles T. Parks 4/22/92 and charged him with 1st Degree Murder, Armed Robbery and Concealing a Homicidal Death. He is currently in the Winnebago County Jail.
On March 20, 2019,Winnebago County State’s Attorney Marilynn Hite Ross authorized charges against a second suspect and Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for the following person:
~Joshua J. Whittie 1/2/00 of Rockford
-First Degree Murder
-Concealing a Homicidal Death
**Whittie is currently in Custody at another corrections facility**
The charges against Parks and Whittie are merely accusations and they are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
