Woman In Her 70’s Shot in Rockford, Serious Condition

On Sunday, September 11, 2016 at approximately 8:15 p.m., patrol officers from the Rockford Police Department responded to a residence in the 900 block of Woodlawn Avenue in reference to a shooting. When they arrived officers learned that numerous shots had been fired into a residence. The victim, 74-year-old Juana Deleon, was struck in the arm by one of the rounds. Deleon was transported to a local hospital where she was treated for serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

Detectives from the Rockford Police Department are conducting a follow-up investigation into the incident. Based on the information available at this time investigators are looking for a light colored four door vehicle that is possibly involved in the incident.

On 09-11-16, at approximately 8:15 PM., the Rockford Police Department responded to the 900 block of Woodlawn Avenue for calls of gunshots being heard.  Upon arrival officers learned there was a shooting victim in a residence within the 900 block.  This victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment and is currently listed in serious condition.  Preliminary information from the scene indicates the victim was inside her residence when an unknown suspect or suspects fired multiple gunshots into the front of the structure.  The victim was subsequently struck and the suspect or suspects fled the scene.  A possible vehicle of interest is a newer unknown make/model four door sedan, light gray or blue in color, with silver trim.
