UPDATE:

Aggravated Robbery: On Sunday, January 6, 2019, shortly after 7:30 p.m., Rockford Police officers were called to Best Buy (281 Deane Drive) for a robbery. There, officers learned the 19-year-old suspect entered the store and loaded a cart with video gaming equipment. An employee approached the suspect, who then implied he had a weapon and fled the store. The suspect vehicle, a blue minivan, was located and stopped a short time later near East State Street and Mill Road. Officers took the four occupants in the minivan into custody. Upon further review of the case, the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office authorized the below listed charges.

Jason Shull:
This was my friend. He was pulled over for not using his turn signal. When he refused to talk to the officer without a lawyer present, they drew assault rifles on him.”

RPD will only confirm at traffic stop. No other details at this time.

Unknown at this time if this is related: http://rockfordscanner.com/2019/01/07/rockford-scanner-armed-robbery-call-at-best-buy/

RS Sources are reporting a lot of police have their guns drawn on some people in a dark colored van on E State street by Perkins.

They are talking to the people in the vehicle with their megaphones.

Unknown what is going on, but since they have their guns drawn that means this is a felony traffic stop (at minimum)  so you want to avoid this area because this is a dangerous situation.

At least 6 cops on scene. They have blocked off the area. The officers are using their scoped rifles, pointed at the people inside the van.

We will try bringing you updates as they become available

Update: Racheal M. said: There is also about 10 or so cops at Best Buy as well right now. It appears the occupants of the van are detained and police are searching the van now.
