House Struck By Gunfire in Rockford

Officers responded to a call for shots fired in the 3600 block of Preston Street.  Responding officers discovered that the west side of 3614 Preston Street had been struck three times by gunfire.  No one inside was injured.  The victims did not hear the gun shots but heard glass break and then noticed their house had been struck.

Officers did not locate any shell casings.  During a neighborhood check it was learned that after the shots were heard a black male was seen walking from the area however there is no indication that he was involved.

Shots Fired After An Altercation At A Loves Park Bar

 




 

On 11/13/16 around 0150 hours Officers met with the Victims of an Aggravated Discharge of Firearm at their residence.  Officers spoke to the victims who stated the incident occurred around midnight at the intersection of Reid Farm Rd and Villagreen.

The Victims explained to the Officers that they were at Jacks(Jax) Pub in Loves Park when they got into a verbal argument with the Suspect.

The Suspect pulled out a handgun and pointed it at them. The victims left in their vehicle and the Suspect followed them in his vehicle to the intersection of Reid Farm Rd and Villagreen when the Suspect fired 3 to 4 shots at the victim’s car striking it two times on the driver side doors.

Then Victims then returned to their residence where they called the police.  There was no injury to the Victim’s.

The Victims described the Suspect as a white male, 180 lbs, unshaven, short hair in his early 20’s driving a dark newer 4 door sedan.

Multiple fans reporting multiple gunshots on Rockford East Side

Around 1:30 AM. Several fans had contacted us and said they heard multiple gunshots on Rockford Eastside. Most of the fans were in the area of Charles st and Gardiner, also in the areas of Broadway and 21st, also 23rd and 17th, and 22nd and 13th. Rockford Police Department are encrypted so no suspect information is available. Unknown on injuries at this time. No other information is available.

Since we posted this, another RS fan said “my neighbors were outside arguing and screaming that he’s got a gun then like 30 mins later the cops have 16th Ave blocked off”

Shots Fired near North Town Mall, Possible Shooting Victim

Several Rockford Scanner fans contacted us in regards to multiple shots being fired near North Town Mall/Cliffbreakers parking lot around 2 am. Unknown on injuries, some said one person was shot. But we can not confirm this. (We can confirm shots fired. Shooting victim is unconfirmed)No suspect information. The Rockford police are encrypted, so no other information is available

RS Fans Reporting Shots Fired, Possible Shooting Victim

Several Rockford Scanner  fans have contacted us and said there were multiple shots that were fired near the Fairground housing.  At least seven shots were reported to have been heard.  The suspects fled in a white vehicle.  Possible shooting victim, but not confirmed

RS Fan from this afternoon (Copy/paste) : “Drive by incident off of Kilburn and Arcadia. Victim was a black male riding a bike when a red older SUV drove by and shot about 7 rounds which were later recovered by Rockford police department. Myself and a neighbor attempted to check on the victim when suspect vehicle occupied by two black males rides by again. We fled inside the house when two more rounds were discharged at the victim. Victim at this point fled on foot leaving bike and that’s when PD was contacted to report incident.

This afternoon several Rockford Scanner fans contacted us in regards to several shots that were fired in the area of Broadway and 20th. No reports of injuries.

Shots Fired in Rockford, Several Officers En Route

UPDATE:
On October 06, 2016 shortly after 1:30 PM Rockford Police responded to the area of 20th Street and Harrison Avenue reference to a report of shots being fired.  The caller stated that they heard several loud bangs and they then saw a SUV leaving the area.  Officers located the SUV in the 2300 block of 20th Street as they were responding to the call.  Inside the vehicle they located a 22 and 23 male who had both been shot.  Both subjects were transported to local hospitals by Rockford Fire Ambulance for treatment.  The 23 year old had a minor injury and the 22 year old was suffering from a serious wound.  No suspect information at this time.


Around 1:37 pm today several officers were dispatched to the area of 20th and Harrison. Scanner traffic is saying numerous shots fired. The suspect is a Hispanic male. Blue SUV is involved. 

UPDATE: Two shooting victims.  Possibly 3rd shooting victim. They have dispatched 3 ambulances to the scene.

UPDATE: They cancelled the 3rd ambulance. Two confirmed victims. They said there was a third shooting victim and needed an ambulance, but while en route they cancelled the ambulance. Unknown if it is fatal or unfounded for the 3rd victim.  

UPDATE: One victim is in their 20’s. He was shot near the left shoulder/neck area.

Sounds like the victims were in a vehicle when they were shot. Then crashed their vehicle. One person is unconscious.

Traffic Alert: Traffic is backed up a ways in the area of the scene. AVOID THE AREA or expect delays

Also a couple people detained.

Another Man Arrested For Shooting Gun in Rockford

On October 1, 2016, members of the Rockford Specialized Community Oriented Police Enforcement team went to the area of 1200 12th Avenue to investigate a report of shots fired. Upon arrival, they observed several subjects standing in a driveway in the 1200 block of 12th Avenue. As officers approached the group, they observed a subject, later identified as 18-year-old Rockford resident Daniel Herrera, walk away from the group and discard a handgun. Officers subsequently arrested Herrera and recovered the firearm. Spent shell casings were also located in the driveway. Herrera was charged with the following offenses:
Reckless Discharge of a Firearm
Unlawful Use of a Weapon
No FOID card
Herrera was lodged in the Winnebago County Jail.A photo of Herrera is attached.
No further information is available for release at this time.
All charges are merely allegations and parties are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in a court of law.
