If you have driven down the streets of Rockford last year and today as well. You probably have saw several dirt bikes and 4 wheelers driving recklessly in the roadways.
Last year they taunted the police on several occasions including yelling at the police and calling them names and giving them the middle finger.
Sources said they were back at it again today around 1:30 pm near Washington School on the West side.
Source sent us a video and said the Rockford police officers were on scene and people on dirt bikes and 4 wheelers taunting the police once again. They said they were driving in the opposite lanes of traffic and also obstructing traffic.
This has become almost a daily occurrence in the Rockford area these days. We have not heard of any arrests. Police show up, chase the suspects for a few then terminate the chase. And the suspects go about to do it another day.
We have been told by sources they have caused several accidents in the past. Police have yet to confirm this.
One source said they do it, because they know they can get away with it and police will not arrest them. So they think of it as a game of taunting the police.
Below is a video that was sent to us from Kristy Olson, today around 1:30 pm, in the area of Washington School on the West side.
Sources are reporting at least 10 police officers working a scene near N Alpine and Highcrest. At the time of writing this, it is not yet known what happened.
We have been told there was a robbery in the area and police have setup a perimeter in the area to look for the suspect.
Unknown on the- suspect description.
RPD has yet to confirm working a scene here or released any information. We are awaiting to hear back from them. Check back later for possible updates.
Update: Sources are now reporting approx 20+ cops on scene along with a police K-9. Sources said there is a bad crash nearby, that is possibly related to this scene. A dark colored suv/van type of vehicle. RPD has yet to release any information.
UPDATE: RPD has confirmed a weapons violation(Shots Fired) but no other information has been released. We been told there was property damage, and possibly one victim that was self transported to the local ER. (not confirmed)
Note: As of 6:30 pm Monday night, RPD has yet to release any information on this, other than via their call log saying a weapons violation.

It happened around 4:30 pm ion the area of N Second and Sheridan.
It is not yet clear what happened. We been told it the situation appears to be a dangerous one, with all the officers on scene.
In the meantime, avoid this area for awhile.

Sources are reporting 2 scenes involving numerous police officers at each scene.
The first scene is reported to be in the old KMart parking lot on Sandy Hollow. Approx. 10 squad cars are on scene at this location. Unknown what happened at this time.
The second scene is near Brynwood and Atherton. Several squads were on scene. Sources said police parked their vehicles and got out and are on foot near a condo nearby. They are reported to have their rifles out.
At this time, it is unknown what happened due to the police encryption and police have yet to release information
FATAL ACCIDENT ARREST: A Rockford man is now in custody following a fatal crash. On January 21, 2019, at approximately 12:45 a.m., Rockford Police officers responded to the 1200 block of North Alpine Road for a two-vehicle accident. Upon their arrival, officers learned the male driver of a silver car was traveling northbound on North Alpine Road when he rear-ended a gray, sport utility vehicle which was also northbound on Alpine Road. The driver of the SUV, a 38-year-old Rockford man, was pronounced dead at the scene. His name is not being released at this time. The passenger of the silver car was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. The driver suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
The Rockford Police Department’s Traffic Investigations Unit conducted a follow-up investigation which revealed speed and alcohol as factors in the accident. The driver of the silver car, the at-fault vehicle, was identified as 25-year-old Joshua Thomas. The Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office reviewed the case and authorized the charges below. A warrant was obtained, and on Tuesday, January 22, 2019, Thomas was taken into custody.

Thomas was lodged in the Winnebago County Jail. The charges against Thomas are merely accusations, and he is considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
Sources are reporting a fatal accident on the East side.
It happened just before 1 am near the 1200 block of N Alpine.
A vehicle rolled over and caught on fire. The person inside has passed away.
Others were able to get out, and need medical assistance.
Still developing. Sounds like this area will be blocked off for several hours.
Source said he witnessed a vehicle excessively speeding (Possibly over 100 mph) when the accident happened. A Silver vehicle possibly a Sanata hit a Jeep.
Police are denying any chases.
RPD says a Silver car and a Gray SUV were northbound on Alpine when the car rear-ended the SUV. The driver of the SUV was the one who passed away on scene. Passenger of the car was transported to the hospital with life threatening injuries, and the driver of the car was transported with non life threatening injuries. They said speed was a factor in the accident.
