On Saturday, March 16, 2019 at approximately 4:45 AM the Rockford police responded to the 1700 block of Genoa Street in reference to a domestic battery complaint involving a gun.
Upon their arrival officer learned a 31-year-old male and a 32-year-old female got into an argument that led to a physical altercation. The two had a domestic relationship.
Officers located a vehicle in the driveway of the residence that had had been reportedly damaged with a shovel by the female. Officers then learn the male fired off one round from a handgun into the air. No one was injured and nothing was struck by the gunfire.
Officers took the mail identified as James Howell into custody and arrested him for reckless discharge. Police took him down to the Winnebago County jail and lodged him. According to the jail website he is currently on no bond with a felony pending and his next court date is Unavailable.
The charges against him are merely an accusation and he is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
UPDATE: Police said the man approx 26 years old was transported to a local ER with non life threatening injuries. Police said alcohol may have played a factor in the accident.

Sources are reporting a bad accident on the East side.
It happened around 8 pm tonight in the area of 11th st and Harrison.
Reports of a vehicle that rolled over in the Northbound lanes, just North of the intersection.
Reports of injuries, it is not yet known on the severity of the injuries at this time.
Around 5 pm tonight, emergency personnel were responding to 2 different accident scenes.
The first one is in the 300 block of Elm st, across from the BMO Harris Center. Sounds like it is in or near the parking area on Elm, across from the BMO. A Black minivan and a Black Dodge Ram are involved. Reports of injuries and possible extrication is needed.
UPDATE: They have updated the possible location near Green and Church.
The other accident is near Broadway and Eastmooreland. Injuries were being reported at this scene also. Unknown on the severity of the injuries. They have dispatched 2 ambulances to the scene.
Both these accident scenes are under investigation. Please avoid these areas.

Reports of a possible stabbing victim at this location.
Reports of a fight in the parking lot and at least one person has been stabbed on the East side of the building.
The victim is a female around 21 years old and was stabbed in the back just below her rib cage.
The suspect was described as a black female, light complexion, 20-23 years of age, 5’11” tall, large build.

On Saturday 03/09/19 at approximately 11:00 P.M., Rockford Police responded to the 4000 block of E. State Street, in reference to a stabbing victim, a 21-year old female. Officers learned the victim was confronted by the suspect. The victim was stabbed during the confrontation. The victim was transported to a local hospital by Rockford Fire. The injuries are not life threatening. The suspect was described as a black female, light complexion, 20-23 years of age, 5’11” tall, large build.
