Just after 4 PM Rockford fire department were dispatched to an address on 18th Ave. Initial scanner traffic is saying there is a burn victim near this location. While en route to the scene, The dispatcher said the person has possibly passed away. They requested a fire investigator to the scene. It is not yet known the cause. This is still developing
UPDATE: Confirmed fatal. RS Fan said the victim was found by his grandson in or near the yard. Officials said the man was burning leaves in the yard and it got out of control, when the victim caught on fire.

Update: Sounds like there is a lot of smoke and is a valid fire. They are asking for a 3rd ladder truck to the scene. Unconfirmed, but sounds like it is at or near the Oscars Tire. Still developing.
UPDATE: RS fan on scene reporting an explosion and building collapse. They requested Comed to the scene and to expedite.
The Rockford Police Department advises you to AVOID 11th St, between Harrison Ave and 23rd Ave due to a large structure fire. Traffic will be blocked for several hours. Please find an alternative route for your travels.

Overnight the Rockford Fire Department were responding to a fire call when it noticed flames coming from the top floor of the old Barber Coleman building at Rock and Loomis. It happened around 1 am. They upgraded the fire to a 2nd alarm. The cause of the fire is under investigation. The building is vacant
Around 8:46 am this morning the Rockford Fire Department were dispatched to the Buffalo Wild Wings at 6275 E State St. Scanner traffic is saying the restaurant is beginning to fill up with smoke. The HVAC unit was turned on and began smoking. They are evacuating the business. Rockford Fire Department is en route.
Just before 8 am this morning the Rockford Fire Department were dispatched to 505 N Main. Scanner traffic is minimal, only saying there is a possible fire on the 3rd floor of the high rise. They switched channels, so we can’t hear anymore updates.
On Wednesday November 9, 2016 at about 11:45 a.m. patrol officers from the Rockford Police Department responded to Kent Creek adjacent to the 3100 block of Auburn Street in reference to a Death Investigation. The body of 36 year old, Cedric Merriweather, of Rockford was found in the creek by a work crew.
On Thursday November 10, 2016 an autopsy was conducted by the Winnebago County Coroner’s Office. The results revealed that Merriweather died as a result of blunt force trauma and drowning, making his death a Homicide.
Update: A man has been found under the nearby bridge. Reported to have been found by the Winnebago County Inmate Work Crew. Still developing

Around 11:55 am this morning the RFD were dispatched to the 3100 block of Auburn st for a person who had passed away. Rockford Fire Department arrived on scene, and said that the RPD were handling the scene and they were going back in service. It is not yet known how the person died. The RPD have not released any information. We will try to post an update if we can.
Around 9:30 am this morning the Rockford Fire Department were dispatched to the 200 block of 18th ave at Aramark. Scanner traffic is saying there is a dryer on fire inside the business. Several units are en route to the fire.
