Sources are reporting several minor traffic accidents have already occurred.

The most recent one is near Broadway and 23rd. There is an automobile accident near this location and injuries are being reported at this time. It is not yet known on the severity of the injuries. The cause of this accident is under investigation.

Another accident just happened as were writing  this up that is on East Riverside near the Burger King, just East of Alpine. A vehicle crashed into a pole near this location. Injuries are being reported, it is not yet known on the severity of these injuries.

The pole is down, electrical wires are down.

A second ambulance has been requested to the scene.

The snow has started and the road conditions are going to deteriorate quickly. Please use caution if you have to drive this evening

Several sources were reporting a large amount of emergency personnel at the Fasmart at 6010 E Riverside around 10 am this morning.

That is near E Riverside and N Mulford.

Initial reports are saying there was a possible electrical fire on the roof of the building.  And everyone inside the business was evacuating.

We are working on trying to get an update.

No reports of any injuries.

It happened approx. 10 am this morning in front of the Starbucks on E Riverside, near Forest Hills.

A vehicle rolled over near location and landed in the parking lot in front of the Starbucks.

Possible extrication is needed to cut a person out of a vehicle.

Rockford Scanner™: Vehicle Crashes into AA House, Possible Fatal Injuries

Update: It appears the vehicle was traveling East on Constitution Place, when it failed to stop and crashed head on into the house at 3527 N Court st.

Multiple emergency personnel were on scene.  At least three ambulances were dispatched to the scene. Three confirmed injuries. Homeowners were in bed sleeping when the vehicle hit the house.

Preliminary reports are saying one possible fatal. Officials said alcohol and weather conditions may have played a factor in the accident.  Check back later for updates.


Just before 2 am this morning, several emergency personnel were responding to a possible fatal accident.

A vehicle crashed into a house in the 3500 block of N Court st in Rockford. Google maps shows that to be at W Riverside area.

A vehicle crashed into a house.  Driver is allegedly under the influence.

At least one person is injured and is possibly fatal injuries.

The vehicle has caught on fire.

Avoid the area. Still developing.

Source said: This is at Riverside and Central right now also there’s a car all smashed up on the left hand side near Dollar Tree in the Walmart parking lot towards the back I kind of have a feeling that they were the ones that started the accident and fled because the guy is in front of a tree and there’s no way his car got that smashed by the tree the paramedics and fire department are with him also or her. They were searching back at the tree alongside Sprint where they caught the car the other one I was telling you about and they were looking inside the pine tree so I think that the person may have tried throwing something

BUSTED DURING BATTLE OF THE BELLS: Rockford Police officers ringing bells for the Salvation Army stop a shoplifter trying to steal more than a thousand dollars’ worth of merchandise. On Friday, December 14, 2018, at approximately 10:20 a.m., Rockford Police officers participating in “Battle of the Bells” against Rockford Fire Department were alerted to a male suspect shoplifting goods from Walmart (3859 Northridge Drive). When confronted by an officer outside, the suspect fled on foot. He was taken into custody after a short foot chase and now faces the below listed charges.

“While officers were volunteering for a noteworthy cause, they were quickly reminded of how important it is to remain ever-vigilant,” said Assistant Deputy Chief Carla Redd. “I am very grateful for the dedication the officers show to the community on a daily basis.”

Schumacher was lodged in the Winnebago County Jail. The charges against Schumacher are merely accusations. He is considered innocent unless proven guilty in court.


Sources said Police put a man in handcuffs earlier today near the Starbucks near Forest Hills and Riverside.

Sources said the man committed a crime at Walmart on Northridge this morning then ran from police across the road near the Taco Bell and Starbucks. Police caught the man near Starbucks.

Sources said he is an alleged theft suspect.

Side note:  Rockford Police and Fire Departments were hosting an event at the same Walmart.  #BattleoftheBells: Come donate to the Salvation Army and help RPD beat Rockford Fire Department in this change challenge at the Walmart on W. Riverside and Northridge Dr. from 10 am – 2 pm!

UPDATE: Suspects were wanted in an aggravated hijacking. A couple of suspects are in custody. Sources said it appears the vehicle may have rolled over near the ramp to I-90. Still developing.


Sources are reporting approx. 20 police squad cars are at a scene near I-90 and E Riverside. At the time of writing this we do not yet know what happened.

We been told that there are several officers near I-90 and E State st as well, possibly related to this call.

We have been told this was a possible police chase that ended up into an auto accident. But not confirmed.  (Not related to the one from earlier)
