Around 9 pm tonight several Rockford Scanner fans were asking about what happened near the 3800 block of Shirley rd in Rockford.
As you know the Rockford police are encrypted, and they never released any information.
A Rockford Scanner fan contacted us and said there was a burglary that had just happened. Possible home invasion.
No suspect information, due to the RPD being encrypted.

Two armed men broke into a 79 year old back door. She fought with one of the suspects and they got away with only her purse. Crime scene and K-9 units were on hand.

On 11/29/16 around 1540 hours Officers responded to the 4200 block of Auburn St for an Aggravated Battery with Firearm Incident. Officers spoke to the victim at Rockford Memorial Hospital who was being treated for a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the leg. The Victim stated was unloading groceries in the parking lot of 4200 Auburn St when the Suspect exited the passenger side of a blue vehicle and approached him. A verbal argument began between the Suspect and the Victim before turning into a physical altercation. During the physical altercation the Suspect pulled out a handgun and shot the victim in the leg. The Victim fled the area on foot and was transported to Rockford Memorial Hospital where he was treated and released. The Suspect is described as a black male in his 20’s
Around 3:42 pm today emergency personnel were dispatched to the Auburn Manor on Auburn st. Details are minimal right now, only saying at least one person has just been shot and to send medical. The victim is reported to be behind Auburn Manor.
Rockford police are encrypted, so no information from the police.

On Monday, 11/28/16 at approximately 2130 hours, officers responded to the 900 block of Acorn St. in reference to shots being fired. Upon arrival, officers located two witnesses who observed a silver Grand Prix with tinted windows and a sunroof, pull into the parking lot of Fairgrounds Pool. The witnesses advised two suspects exited the vehicle, and shot at them. Following the shooting, one of the suspects fled on foot, while the other suspect got in the Grand Prix and it fled southbound on Mulberry. A 16 year old black male victim (who was with the witnesses) was later located in a local emergency room with a non-life threatening gunshot wound to his ankle. Detectives responded to Acorn St. for further investigation.
Suspects were described as:
1. Tall, thin, light skinned black male wearing a grey hoody.
2. Black male, average build, wearing dark clothing and a backpack.
Around 9:40 pm tonight the RFD were dispatched to the 900 block of Acorn. Scanner traffic is saying there is a shooting victim near this location. The victim was transported to a local E.R. Unknown on the severity of the injuries.
No suspect information, since RPD is encrypted.
Update on suspect info: Silver Pontiac 4 door with tinted windows and a sunroof. Last seen near Jefferson st.
Thanks to the un-encrypted airwaves of the Winnebago County police, we were able to hear the 10-68 of a bank robbery in Rockford.
The suspect fired off their gun inside the Harvard Bank at 2470 East Rock Drive in Rockford. The suspect was robbing the bank. Unknown if anyone was injured.
The suspect is a white male, 5’10, wearing a ski mask. He fled in a dark colored grand prix with tinted windows. Plate # of N536020 or similar.
The plate comes back to an address near Rockton.

On Friday November 25th, 2016 at around 11:00 PM, Rockford Police responded to 1203 7th St in reference an aggravated battery with a firearm complaint. Upon investigation, one shell casing was found in front of the business. A local hospital called stating a gun shot victim had just arrived. A 54 year old male had sustained a gun shot wound to the head. The bullet had grazed the side of his head while he was sitting in a vehicle in the parking lot of 1203 7th St. The victim stated he was waiting for a friend to come out of the business, when he observed his friend being confronted by a group of unknown black males. The group of black males then started beating on his friend at which point the victim exited the vehicle to also confront the suspects. 3 out of the 4 black male suspects then pulled out handguns, so the victim and his friend ran back to get into their vehicle to leave. One of the black males then pointed a handgun at the vehicle and fired one round through the front windshield grazing the head of the victim. The suspects then fled on foot in an unknown direction.
The victim is at a local hospital and is in stable non-life threatening condition at this time.
Suspect 1: black male, around 6’00” tall, around 180 lbs, wearing a black hoody. In possession of a handgun fired one round.
Suspect 2: black male, unknown further. In possession of a handgun.
Suspect 3: black male, unknown further. In possession of a handgun.
Suspect 4: black male, unknown further.

Update: The victim is 51-year-old Kevin Gander from Winnebago.
From our friends at Mystateline.com: Gander was also a well-known physician in the Rockford area. He worked for OSF Medical Group at the office on Spring Creek. OSF released a statement saying: “Our OSF colleague and physician, Dr. Kevin Gander was well-liked by his patients. He will be missed by his OSF family and we offer Kevin’s family our deepest sympathy and prayers.”
Update: At 12:12 am they said “The coroner is advised”
Sounds like there might be more than one victim involved in the accident. One confirmed victim, unconfirmed for more.
Around 10:36 pm tonight an officer was attempting to catch up to a vehicle near Auburn st. The vehicle is a Black Chrysler 200. The officer stopped chasing the vehicle. A short time later it crashed through a fence. Sounds like the injuries are life threatening, the officer said he was calling the dispatcher with the extent of the injuries. Possible fatal, but not confirmed. They are requesting the crime scene unit. It crashed near Weldon. Still developing.
Updates: Weldon rd and Winnebago rd, they are diverting traffic. They are trying to contact an Illinois State police Sargent, unknown why at this time.
Around 4:30 pm today several gunshots rang out in the area of Mulberry and Forest. Approx. 20 gunshots heard. Unknown on injuries. A Red Car and a White SUV are believed to be the suspect vehicles.

On November 20th, at 6:37pm, the Rockford Police Department responded to 126 Miriam Ave in reference to a Home Invasion. Preliminary investigations revealed that after a knock on the front door the 14 year old victim opened the door to find two armed suspects. The suspects pushed their way into the residence and then confronted the adult female victim in the house. The suspects demanded cash and drugs. The victim did not have any narcotics but did hand over an undisclosed small amount of cash. The suspects then left the area. No one was injured during the incident.
The suspects were described as follows:
Black male, 6’-3”, 300 lbs., wearing blue jeans and hoodie armed with unknown type handgun
White male, 5’-11”, 160 lbs., gray sweat pants and black hoodie armed with an unknown type handgun.
