Rockford Scanner™: Police Add Two K-9’s To The Local Police Force

WCSO: Meet our two additions to the K9 Unit; Sadie and Nancy Drew. We want to thank the anonymous donor for the donation to purchase the K9’s. We also want to thank Crime Stoppers for facilitating the donation.

See the below track summary from the K-9 unit. Sadie and Nancy Drew will be used to help locate missing/lost individuals.

October 3, 2018 0930 hours​
Deputy Fey and K-9 Diego
​responded to Harrison and Kishwaukee where a 81 year old female who is an at-risk adult had ran from her husband’s vehicle while he was taking her to a doctor’s appointment. K-9 located the track which led several blocks north of the location. Based on the direction of travel, the subject was located and returned to family.

September 7, 2018 1555 hours ​
Deputy Metzler and K-9 Cliff​
​responded to the 500 block of Ralston Road in Machesney Park for report of an 80 year old male who is an at-risk adult and who has wondered from the home in the past. K-9 located the track which led over a mile east of the home. Based on direction of travel from K-9, subject was located and returned home.

August 24, 2018 0849 hours ​
Deputy Metzler and K-9 Cliff
​responded to the 14,000 block of South Bluff Road in South Beloit for a report of a 15 year old male who was threatening suicide and had fled on foot from the home. K-9 located the track which led into a forest preserve approximately 1.5 miles from the home. Subject was located by K-9. Subject had injured himself prior to being located, but was safely transported to the hospital for treatment.

August 22, 2018 1614 hours​
Deputy Fey and K-9 Diego
​responded to 5000 block of Hauley Road for a missing 3 year old female. Family had already searched the property and were unable to locate the child. K-9 located the track leading from the home into a nearby wooded area and backed onto the roadway. Child was located a short distance down the road.

August 8, 2018 1200 hours​
Deputy Pearson and K-9 Chico
​responded to Hononegah Forest Preserve for a report of a 31 year old female who had threatened suicide. Her vehicle had been located in the forest preserve. K-9 located the track which led ¾ mile into the forest preserve where the subject was found attempting to commit suicide. She was transported to the hospital for treatment.

June 23, 2018 2342 hours​
Deputy Warmoth and K-9 Ares
​responded to 2600 block of Bibury Road in New Milford for a 21 year old female suffering from a serious medical condition who had went for a walk 5 hours prior and not returned home. K-9 located the track which led over a mile to a nearby forest preserve. Subject was located in the forest preserve suffering from a medical condition. She was transported to hospital for treatment.

May 8, 2018 2319 hours​
Deputy Warmoth and K-9 Ares
​responded to the 14,000 block of Hunter’s Way for a report of an 8 year old male and 10 year old female who were missing from the home. The area had been searched by the family. K-9 located the track leading from the home and both children were located within two blocks of the residence.

December 3, 2017 1555 hours​
Deputy Metzler and K-9 Cliff
​responded to the area of Memorial Avenue and Virginia Avenue for a report of a 40 year old male subject who had threatened suicide and left the home on foot. K-9 located the track leading from the home. The track led several blocks and the subject was located unharmed.

April 30, 2017 2142 hours​
Deputy Warmoth and K-9 Ares
​responded to the 700 block of Sycamore in Machesney Park for a 75 year old male who is an at-risk adult who has wondered from the home in the past. During a thunderstorm, K-9 located the track which led from the house. Several blocks from the home, the subject was located hiding in a wooded area. He was returned to family.

With the addition of Sadie and Nancy Drew the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Department will be able to offer assistance to surrounding agencies.

Rain showers associated with the remnants of Subtropical Storm Alberto will spread over the area late tonight and persist through Wednesday.

While there may be breaks, rain showers should be fairly widespread in coverage and thus rain is expected more often than not on Wednesday.

It is possible this rainfall causes some flooding issues, mainly in yellow shaded areas

At 359 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near
Byron, or 10 miles west of Rockford Airport, moving northwest at 20
mph.

Nickel size hail and winds in excess of 40 mph will be possible with
this storm.

Locations impacted include…
Byron, Pecatonica and Leaf River.

 



Rockford Scanner™: Woman’s Ex-BF Shoots At Her In Rockford, Alleged Suspect Arrested




On May 27, 2018 at 10:50 a.m. a female victim came to the District One Police Headquarters. She reported her ex-boyfriend, Zachery Laster, had shot at her while she was in the 1100 block of Blake St, Rockford, IL. She said the shooting just happened and she drove to the police station to report it. She was not injured and nothing appeared to have been struck by bullets. Rockford Police Patrol officers and detectives investigated the incident.

The investigation was reviewed by the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office and the following charges were authorized:

ZACHERY LASTER B/M 28 years of age ROCKFORD RESIDENT

UNLAWFUL USE OF A WEAPON
NO F.O.I.D
RECKLESS DISCHARGE OF A FIREARM

The Rockford Police Department is asking for the public’s help in locating the suspect. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Investigations Bureau (779-500-6551) or Crime Stoppers (815-963-7867).

The charges against the suspect are merely accusations and not evidence of his guilt. As with defendants in all criminal cases he is considered innocent unless proven guilty in court.

Rockford Scanner™: Man Arrested For Drugs, After A Traffic Stop In Rockford

Over the last several weeks, Rockford Police SCOPE officers have been receiving complaints from concerned citizens regarding the sale of narcotics occurring in the 2000 block of South Fourth Street. As a result of these complaints, Rockford SCOPE officers conducted an investigation.

On May 25th, 2018, shortly after 7 pm, Rockford SCOPE officers were on patrol in the 2000 block of South Fourth Street when they stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. They identified the driver as 58-year-old Rockford resident, Rickey Pulliam. Investigation revealed that Pulliam was in possession of a quantity of crack cocaine and cash. He was taken into custody.

The Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office was contacted. They authorized charges of Possession with Intent to Deliver Cocaine 10-30 grams and Failure to Signal. Pulliam was transported to the Winnebago County Jail and lodged. A photo is attached. This is an on-going investigation. No further information is available at this time.

The charges against Pulliam are merely accusations. He is considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.

 



Rockford Scanner™: 3rd Alarm Commercial Structure Fire, Several Area Fire Departments On Scene

We want to say thank you to our mutual aid partners who filled our stations and helped fight the fire at Beloit Box Board. Our media release has more information below:

A three-alarm fire was extinguished around 1 a.m. Tuesday after crews from southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois battled a fire that was reported around 10 p.m. Monday at Beloit Box Board, 801 Second St.

One employee was in the building at the time; that employee safely evacuated without injury. There were no injuries reported to any civilian or firefighter.

Flames were visible from the roof of the building upon City of Beloit Fire Department arrival. Due to the space constraints in the building, equipment in the building, and the level of the fire, a three-alarm response was needed to safely extinguish the fire.

Thirty-three units from other area departments responded to the three-alarm fire in addition to crews from the City of Beloit Fire Department. Five additional units responded to back-fill City of Beloit fire stations. The City of Beloit Fire Department wants to thank the following departments for responding: Town of Beloit, South Beloit, Janesville, Town of Turtle, North Park, Harlem Roscoe, Rockton, Edgerton, Milton, Cherry Valley, Loves Park, Boone County District 2, Boone County District 3, Delavan, Elkhorn, Clinton, Sharon, Monroe, Rockford, Capron, Pecatonica, Belvidere, and Win Bur Sew.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. A damage estimate is unavailable at this time.


Around 10 pm tonight several area fire departments were responding to a commercial structure fire. 

A MABAS to the 3rd alarm was toned out for a fire in the 800 block of 2nd st in Beloit. 

That is at Beloit Box Board at 801 2nd st

There was a confirmed fire in the roof area of the business. 

The cause of the fire is under investigation. 

 


 

 

 



Rockford Scanner™: Rollover Accident, Possibly Three Vehicles Involved




Around 9:30 pm tonight several emergency personnel were responding to a rollover accident. 

It happened on I-39 near mile marker 116

A truck has rolled over near this location. 

Unknown on injuries

Unknown on extrication. 

Possibly three vehicles involved 

At least one has rolled over. Reports are saying all three have rolled over, but we can not confirm this. 

Avoid the area.

Rockford Scanner™: Water Rescue: Two Jet Skiers Need To Be Rescued From The River, Trapped In A Railroad Trestle




Around 3:30 pm today several emergency personnel were dispatched for another water rescue. 

This one happened in the area of Brooke ct and Ashelford. 

Reports of two jet skiers were trapped in a railroad trestle in the river, and needed assistance. 

One of them is reported to be upside down in the water without a life jacket. 

Several emergency personnel are en route.

Rockford Scanner™: Serious Accident in Boone County




A little after 1 pm today several sources were reporting a bad accident in Boone County. 

There was an auto accident in the area of Hunter rd and 76 in Boone County.  Injuries were being reported. The severity of the injuries were believed to be non life threatening.  There were two vehicles involved in the accident.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.

Update from RS fan Steven Parson: Approx 16 year old male. 
According to people in the crowd he was revived and sent to the hospital in ambulance grandmother had a heart attack so she left in another ambulance

A MABAS (Mutual Aid) was toned out for local fire departments to assist with the search.


Details are minimal right now.

Several sources are reporting a person drowning at Lake Louise, near Byron. 

Several emergency personnel are on scene. 

They were able to recover the victim. Unknown if the emergency personnel were able to revive the victim or not.
