Rockford Scanner™: Two police officers injured during a police chase in Rockford

Rockford police just release information on an incident that happened over the weekend that injured two police officers.

It happened Saturday night just before 7 PM, Rockford police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for improper lane usage and speeding near N. Central Ave. and W. Jefferson St.

A Rockford police K-9 unit then conducted a check of the vehicle, which alerted officers to possible narcotics. The suspect was later identified as 32-year-old Deangelo Statam who fled on foot.

After a brief foot chase and a scuffle with the Rockford Police Department, he was taken into custody in the 200 block of N. Central Ave.

During the foot chase he discarded an item,  and the Rockford police were able to recover it and contain a substance believed to be crack cocaine.

During the incident two officers were injured and treated at a local hospital.


Rockford Scanner™: Rockford business robbed, Police arrested the suspect a short time later

On Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at approximately 4 PM the Rockford police responded to the Dollar Tree at 526 E. Jefferson St. in reference to an armed robbery.

When the Rockford Police Department arrived the officers learn the suspect approached the cashier and applied he had a weapon and demanded cash. The suspect then fled with a small amount of money.

Officers located the man a short distance away walking east bound on Jefferson and took him into custody.

32 years old Charles Hill  from Rockford was arrested for aggravated robbery and retail theft. He was lodged in the Winnebago County jail. The charges against him are merely accusations he is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.


Rockford Scanner™: Victim injured during an armed robbery in downtown Rockford


Around 4 PM today emergency personnel or responded to the 500 block of Jefferson Street in downtown Rockford.

Initial reports were saying a man was down near this location and injured.

Rockford Police Department are confirming an armed robbery.
But they would not confirm the injuries at this time.

Sources nearby sent us a photo of a man being handcuffed in the Dollar Tree Parking lot. It is not yet confirmed if this is related to the armed robbery or not.

It happened around 3:30 pm near E State and Jefferson/Charles.

There is an auto accident near this intersection.

At least 2 injuries were being reported.

At least one person is reported trapped and needs to be cut out of the vehicle.

UPDATE: 2nd extrication company requested.

It happened around 3:35 pm today near the area of Jefferson and Independence.

This is believed to be domestic related (So it probably won’t be in the call logs)

At least one person has been stabbed, unknown on the severity of the injuries.

Rockford Scanner™: Another Carjacking in Rockford

On 12/8/18 at around 3:05 A.M. Rockford Police responded to the PNC Bank, 225 N Court St in reference to a vehicular hijacking.  The victim reported she was at the drive up ATM machine when she was approached by the suspect whom demanded she withdraw money to give to him.  When she refused the suspect pulled her out of her car and fled in the victims car.  The victim was not injured.

The stolen car was a silver 2003 Lexus 300 with IL registration of H885850. The suspect was described as a black male in his 20’s.  Stocky build and around 5’5″.  He was last seen wearing a brown jacket with a hood.

This is an ongoing investigation.  Anyone with information is urged to call the police.  If the car is located, do not approach the car and call the police.

It happened near the area of 225 N Court st around 3 am
(Might be 325 N Court st)

Vehicle is described as a Silver 2003 Lexus with a plate number of H885850

Suspect is a black male, stocky build, approx. 5’5 tall. A Brown jacket with a hood up.

  1. Burger King by State and Jefferson  (UPDATE: This was a shooting incident. RPD confirmed a weapons violation)
  2. Burrito Loco on Auburn and Rockton

We have been told these were both robbery scenes.

But as you know, the local police are encrypted and we can not yet confirm this.

RPD said no comment and did not provide any information.
