Rockford Scanner™: Beat The Heat: Rockford Cooling Centers

RELIEF FROM THE HEAT: With heat index values expected to be between 100° and 110° this week, the City has collected information on Cooling Centers in the area. If you must be outside, please remember to limit your outdoor activity, wear and reapply sunscreen, pace your activities, drink more water than usual, and wear loose, light weight, light-colored clothing.

BEAT THE HEAT: Area kids will have a new way to beat the heat this week thanks to a new concept being introduced by the Rockford Fire Department the City of Rockford Water Department – Hydrant Parties. The department created a large sprinkler system, which is connected to a hydrant. Hydrant Parties will take place in cul-de-sacs or in blocked off streets. With the hottest weather of the year expected this week, the goal is to help children cool off and have some fun.
