Feb 17, 2019 – Snow Emergency Declared effective 7:00 PM tonight.

Arterial Salting Operation in progress
February 17, 2019 – ROCKFORD – At approximately 6:30 AM today, the City of Rockford Public Works Department began spreading salt on the arterial routes

Decisions about further deployment will be made, as needed, according to developing conditions.

Citizens are urged to follow at a safe distance behind snowplows. This will prevent the salt that is being spread from hitting your vehicle and the added distance also allows a driver room to back up if needed.

Please contact the Street Division at 779-348-7260 with questions.

When we are not in a snow operation, we handle individual requests as needed.
Please contact us at 779-348-7260.

Decisions about further deployment will be made as needed, according to developing conditions.

The City of Rockford or its contractors are NOT responsible for plowing alley ways.

The City of Janesville has declared a snow emergency for Sunday, February 17th beginning at 6:00 P.M. A snow emergency means that all parked vehicles must be removed from city streets and public parking lots until snow plowing operations are complete. To ensure that you do not receive a parking ticket, please move your vehicle prior to 6:00 P.M. and keep your vehicle off city streets until they have been completely plowed.

Snow and ice accumulations of approximately 3 or more inches have been forecasted for Sunday, February 17th through Monday, February 18th that will require City staff to complete a full plow. Main and arterial streets will be maintained throughout the duration of the snowfall event. Snow accumulations are expected to taper off late on Monday evening, after which the full plow will begin and all City streets will be cleared. The full plow is not expected to be completed until very early on Tuesday morning, although every e ffort will be made to complete residential streets as soon as possible. Please plan on keeping parked vehicles off the street until plows have completely removed snow from curb to curb.
