  • RS fan reporting an accident near  Cemetery road/Harrison road at the corner. Cars are getting through all directions except to the north. One car on its side and another one flipped on its top. One ambulance left.

BREAKING: Officer Involved in An Accident In Rockford

Around 8:10 am this morning officers were responding to a foot chase in Rockford (Assisting RPD). While an officer was en route, he was involved in a T-Bone accident at Alpine and Harrison. Injuries were being reported at the accident scene. Unknown on the severity of the injuries. Medical was dispatched to the scene. Still developing. Please avoid the area or expect delays

RS fan said the foot chase was near 11th st and Brooke rd and the suspect was taken into custody



Injuries reported at a hit-and-run accident in Rockford



Around 3 AM emergency personnel were dispatched to the area of Harrison and 20th.. Scanner traffic is saying there’s an automobile accident with injuries near this location.  Unknown on the severity of the injuries at the time of dispatch.  A vehicle involved fled the scene




Shots Fired in Rockford, Several Officers En Route



On October 06, 2016 shortly after 1:30 PM Rockford Police responded to the area of 20th Street and Harrison Avenue reference to a report of shots being fired.  The caller stated that they heard several loud bangs and they then saw a SUV leaving the area.  Officers located the SUV in the 2300 block of 20th Street as they were responding to the call.  Inside the vehicle they located a 22 and 23 male who had both been shot.  Both subjects were transported to local hospitals by Rockford Fire Ambulance for treatment.  The 23 year old had a minor injury and the 22 year old was suffering from a serious wound.  No suspect information at this time.

Around 1:37 pm today several officers were dispatched to the area of 20th and Harrison. Scanner traffic is saying numerous shots fired. The suspect is a Hispanic male. Blue SUV is involved. 

UPDATE: Two shooting victims.  Possibly 3rd shooting victim. They have dispatched 3 ambulances to the scene.

UPDATE: They cancelled the 3rd ambulance. Two confirmed victims. They said there was a third shooting victim and needed an ambulance, but while en route they cancelled the ambulance. Unknown if it is fatal or unfounded for the 3rd victim.  

UPDATE: One victim is in their 20’s. He was shot near the left shoulder/neck area.

Sounds like the victims were in a vehicle when they were shot. Then crashed their vehicle. One person is unconscious.

Traffic Alert: Traffic is backed up a ways in the area of the scene. AVOID THE AREA or expect delays

Around 1:23 PM, Rockford fire department were dispatched to Harrison and 20th.  Details are minimal at the time of writing this, there is a vehicle on fire near this location.  No other information is available




Automobile accident with injuries, involving at least 3 vehicles



Just after 10 PM, Rockford fire department were dispatched to the area of Harrison and Holmes in reference to an automobile accident. There are three vehicles involved in injuries are being reported. The accident is blocking traffic so please avoid the area. Emergency personnel are en route



Serious Hit & Run To A Pedestrian In Rockford




Rockford Scanner fans called police to report the vehicle near Trevor Circle.  Police came to investigate the vehicle, and said it was the vehicle involved in the accident.

Thanks to Rockford Scanner fans, they were able to locate the vehicle and develop suspect information.

Rockford Scanner fan said the vehicle was parked near Trevor Circle shortly after the accident and still had blood on it.

On September 9, 2016 at approximately 9:50 pm, members of the Rockford Police Department responded to the area of 2000 Kishwaukee Street after receiving calls of a crash involving a pedestrian who was laying in the roadway. Officers arrived to find evidence of a crash and a 67-year-old victim, Richard Walker, from Rockford who was later pronounced deceased on-scene.
Rockford Police Department Traffic Investigators conducted a follow-up investigation into this incident and reviewed the results with the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office who issued a warrant for:
Kellen M. Odems, B/M, 29, Rockford, IL
Charge: Aggravated leaving the scene of an accident involving death
Bond: $150,000

It is with a very heavy heart that I am able to confirm that one of our residents was involved in a fatal accident, which occurred while he was away from his home at Rockford Supportive Living, Friday night.

Our senior community is mourning the loss of one of its beloved members. I ask for privacy and respect during this time of mourning for his neighbors and friends, as well as our caring and devoted staff at Rockford Supportive living, who are missing him greatly. Our deepest condolences to his family and all affected by this tragic loss.

I would like to take this time to publicly thank all of the first responders of our city, as well as the RPD and Winnebago County Coroner’s office, for their incredible caring and efficient staff.

On September 9th., 2016, at approximately 9:50 PM., the Rockford Police Department responded to Kishwaukee St. and New Milford Avenue for a serious traffic crash.  Upon arrival officers located a deceased subject at the scene.  The preliminary investigation indicates a subject riding in a wheelchair was struck in the 2100  block of Kishwaukee St. by a vehicle.  This subject became entangled in the vehicle and was dragged for several blocks until becoming dislodged at New Milford Ave.  The subject was pronounced deceased at the scene and his identity is not being released at this time.  The offending vehicle fled the scene south on Kishwaukee St. and at the time of this release it is being described as a silver passenger car.

At the time of this release no additional details were available.  As the investigation continues more information will be made available.

Several Rockford Scanner fans contacted us and said there are a lot of police on Kishwaukee near the Harrison area. Several have said there was a hit and run to a pedestrian. No suspect information. they said the victim has life threatening injuries.

UPDATE: The police only released this info:

On 09-09-16, at approximately 9:50 PM the Rockford Police Department responded to the 1600 block of Kishwaukee St. for a serious traffic crash.  Upon arrival officers found an accident scene that went from the 1600 block down to the 2600 block.  As a result of this Kishwaukee St. will be closed for the next several hours from the 1600 block down to the 2600 block.  Motorists are asked to avoid the area for the remainder of the evening.

Update on location: Several Rockford Scanner fans said it is south of Harrison ave.   We want to thank those fans for helping!  Also the vehicle didn’t flee, they located it in a nearby parking lot.

Around 11:42 am this morning several emergency personnel were dispatched to Alpine in Rockford. A dark colored vehicle hit a motorcycle then fled the scene. The occupant(s) of the motorcycle are injured. The vehicle fled southbound on Alpine
