On Sunday, June 23 at approximately 2:30 AM the Rockford Police Department responded to a shot spotter alert in the area of Green and Waldo. The Winnebago County Sheriff’s deputies were also on scene.
While officers were responding, a 23-year-old male shooting victim showed up at a local hospital. Officers learned there was a large party in the area when gunfire rang out.
The victim was a passenger in a vehicle near the intersection when he was struck in the head by a bullet. The victim’s injuries are serious but non-life-threatening. According to the Rockford Police Department.
Gunfire also struck a residence and two vehicles and the victim.

On Monday, May 27th, 2019 at 10:33 pm Rockford Police Officers were dispatched to 400 Stanley St. to meet with a pizza delivery driver who was just robbed.
The victim advised as he was delivering a pizza 3-5 black males robbed him at gunpoint. Officers arrived in the area quickly and located the suspects near Green St. and Stanley St. The suspects fled on foot.
3 juvenile suspects were apprehended after a foot chase. 4 BB guns were discarded and located in the area of the suspects’ flight. The victim sustained minor injuries and did not seek medical attention.
The Winnebago State’s Attorney’s Office was consulted and authorized the charges of Aggravated Robbery, Aggravated Battery, and Resisting a Police Officer for each of the juveniles.
All of the juveniles were lodged in the Winnebago County Detention Center. The charges against the suspects are merely accusations. They are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
There is no further description on any outstanding other suspects.

Delivery Driver Robbed at Gunpoint in Rockford.
A delivery driver was robbed at gunpoint at Green and Stanley in Rockford.
5 black males in their teens robbed a delivery driver. They were armed with a gun (possibly a bb gun) they fled on foot.
Police have a large perimeter setup searching for the suspects.
Sources are reporting 2 different scenes involving numerous police officers in the Rockford area.
Happen around 11 PM in the following areas.
There is a large police parameter set up in the areas of Green street, Near Hinckley. Several police officers are working a police perimeter at this time. It is not yet known what happened all we can confirm is police have a perimeter set up and are currently searching for at least one suspect. Sound like this is a possible dangerous situation so you want to please stay inside and report any suspicious activity in the area.
The other location is near Trevor circle on Rockford Southeast side. Numerous emergency personnel are working a scene near this location. We been told this is a shooting incident but police have not confirmed this as of yet. All we can confirm is numerous emergency personnel are working the scene at this time and you want to avoid the area for a while.

Around 5 pm tonight, emergency personnel were responding to 2 different accident scenes.
The first one is in the 300 block of Elm st, across from the BMO Harris Center. Sounds like it is in or near the parking area on Elm, across from the BMO. A Black minivan and a Black Dodge Ram are involved. Reports of injuries and possible extrication is needed.
UPDATE: They have updated the possible location near Green and Church.
The other accident is near Broadway and Eastmooreland. Injuries were being reported at this scene also. Unknown on the severity of the injuries. They have dispatched 2 ambulances to the scene.
Both these accident scenes are under investigation. Please avoid these areas.

Officials have said that Sgt. Matt Kranz, a 17 year veteran of the Rockford Police Department, as the officer who killed Kerry Blake. He has been placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome
Rockford Police said after several hours of negotiations with an alleged suspect, they tossed in some tear gas a few times, then the SWAT team went inside the residence and tried to arrest the alleged suspect. Police say the suspect then assaulted the officers that went inside to arrest him and then one of the officers fired his gun, killing the mentally ill suspect. An officer was also injured, unknown on the severity of the injuries. (RPD)
Update: RPD said via their call log there was an Aggravated Battery at 1126 Green st, same area as this incident. Possibly related.
Shots were confirmed fired at the scene, unknown at this time who fired the shots. Neighbors said police fired the shots and killed a person inside the residence. Neighbors said the victim was mentally ill.
RPD has not released any information on this, and are very quiet on this situation.
Several sources are reporting a large police presence on the west side of Rockford, working a scene.
They said it appears to be a police standoff, possible hostage situation near Green st. near Stanley area
Numerous police officers, Chief OShea, SWAT, Swat vehicles and a sniper are all on scene.

RPD has yet to confirm this, but neighbors said the alleged suspect might have committed a carjacking this afternoon that involved children. That is why the RPD was first went to the residence, while investigating the carjacking at Stanley and Green
