Another Delivery Driver Robbed in Rockford

On Friday, October 7, 2016 shortly after 10:00 p.m. patrol officers from the Rockford Police Department responded to the 100 block of North Johnston Avenue in reference to an armed robbery of a pizza delivery driver. Upon arrival, officers learned that a delivery driver from Domino’s Pizza was attempting to deliver a pizza when he was approached by a black male suspect. The suspect threatened the victim with a handgun and took an undisclosed amount of money from the victim before fleeing the area on foot.

On Saturday, October 8, 2016 patrol officers received information from a concerned citizen who identified a possible suspect in the robbery. At approximately 5:30 p.m. officers located the suspect, Kevontay Haynes, in the 600 block of Soper Avenue. Detectives from the Rockford Police Department conducted a follow-up investigation into the incident and the results were reviewed by the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office who authorized the following charge:

ARRESTED: Kevontay Haynes 19-years-old Rockford, IL
CHARGES: Armed Robbery

Haynes was lodged in the Winnebago County Jail where he is being held in lieu of bond. A photo of Haynes is attached.

All charges are merely allegations and parties are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in a court of law.


On October 7, 2016, at 8:21 PM., the Rockford Police Department responded to Dominos Pizza located on N Main St in reference to an armed robbery to a delivery driver.  The armed Robbery took place in the area of 132 N. Johnston Ave around 8pm.   Upon arrival officers met with the victim who advised that he was attempting to deliver a pizza when an unknown suspect approached him and pointed a handgun at him.  The suspect took the victim’s cellular phone, cash and the pizzas, however the victim was not injured.  The suspect was described as a black male, early 20’s, 5’-9”, 130lbs, wearing a dark hat and dark clothing.
