From RPD: On Sunday, shortly after 9 p.m., Rockford Police officers responded to Dollar Tree (6340 E. State St.) for a possible robbery in progress. RPD, SWAT, RFD and many other officers are on scene. The SWAT team is trying to communicate with someone inside the Dollar Tree.

The business is surrounded by many officers.

Police said there is an armed man inside the business, armed with a handgun. This was originally called in as a robbery in progress around 9 pm.

Officers saw the armed man running inside the store with a gun.

Stephanie Flores

Sources are reporting an auto accident on the West side.

It happened around 1 pm near the intersection of Central and Riverside, near the Walmart.

Injuries were being reported. Unknown on the severity of the injuries.

The cause of the accident is under investigation

Stephanie Flores

Source said: This is at Riverside and Central right now also there’s a car all smashed up on the left hand side near Dollar Tree in the Walmart parking lot towards the back I kind of have a feeling that they were the ones that started the accident and fled because the guy is in front of a tree and there’s no way his car got that smashed by the tree the paramedics and fire department are with him also or her. They were searching back at the tree alongside Sprint where they caught the car the other one I was telling you about and they were looking inside the pine tree so I think that the person may have tried throwing something
