ARRESTED: A Rockford man faces charges related to two separate, violent robberies in the City of Rockford. On Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at approximately 7:00 p.m., Rockford Police officers responded to Jasmine Pantry (2614 Kilburn Avenue) in reference to a robbery to the business where the clerk was beaten. The suspect fled with several items and cash. A 17-year-old male was originally identified as a possible suspect, but upon further investigation by detectives from the Violent Crimes Unit, it was determined the 17-year-old was not involved. Investigators were able to identify 20-year-old Joseph Collins as the suspect.
On Wednesday, September 19, 2018, SCOPE officers arrested Collins on an unrelated warrant. During the investigation, it was also determined that Collins was responsible for beating and robbing a pizza delivery driver in the 500 block of North Day Avenue on August 15, 2018.
Upon further review, the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office authorized the below listed charges against Collins.

Collins was lodged in the Winnebago County Jail. The charges against Collins are merely accusations. He is considered innocent unless proven guilty in court
UPDATE: Winnebago County Coroner says the victim is 36-year-old Jennifer Lewis of Rockford. She passed away from blunt force trauma.
RPD has yet to release suspect information.

RPD is saying this is a “medical assist” call.
Sources are reporting a woman was beaten to death, but not yet confirmed.
SUSPICIOUS DEATH: On Tuesday, September 11, 2018 shortly after 8:00 a.m., Rockford Police officers were called for a medical assist involving an unresponsive female at an apartment in the 900 block of 10th Avenue. Upon arrival, officers located the body of a 36-year-old female who was deceased. The incident is being treated as a suspicious death. Detectives from the Violent Crime Unit are conducting a follow up investigation. No further details are being released at this time.
On 8-6-18 at 4:49 pm, Ogle County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a two vehicle accident at Illinois Rte 72 and Mulford Road.
It was learned that a 2001 Ford pickup driven by Omar Corral, age 36 of Plano was Southbound on Mulford and failed to stop at the intersection causing a 1992 Mitsubishi driven by Cody Brewington, 28 of Kirkland to strike the Ford.
No injuries were reported.
Omar received citations for Disobeying Traffic Control Device and Possession of Cannabis under 10 Grams. Omar was also charged with Unlawful Possession of Fireworks and Unlawful Possession of Adulterants to Defraud Drug and Alcohol Tests. Omar was transported to the Ogle Co Jail and held without bond.
Deputes were assisted at the scene by the Illinois State Police, Maggio’s wrecker and D&W Wrecker.
Crash remains under investigation.
A 28-year-old Beloit man is in stable condition at a local hospital after he was shot in the shoulder during a disturbance in the 1100 block of Grand Avenue at 4:01 a.m. Saturday, July 7.
The victim was transported to Mercy Hospital in Janesville after a witness called 911.
Beloit police officers set up a perimeter and cleared the home in the 1100 block of Grand Avenue. Additional information indicated that the suspect might be in the 200 block of Moore Avenue.
The suspect, Christopher A. Barker, 24, of Beloit, was arrested without incident in the 200 block of Moore Avenue for attempted homicide and for a substantial battery warrant out of Milwaukee County.
Barker and the victim were prior acquaintances; there is no danger to the community from this incident.
The Beloit Police Department will not release the victim’s name or any more information today. No one is available for media interviews this weekend.

On Tuesday, June 19th, 2018, shortly before 7:00 p.m. patrol officers from the Rockford Police Department responded to a residence in the 1000 block of North Central Avenue in reference to a battery investigation. When they arrived, officers learned that an adult female victim had been battered by the suspect, whom she had a previous domestic relationship with. The suspect, identified as Jamie Rogers, fled the scene prior to the officers arriving.
Detectives from the Domestic Violence Unit conducted a follow-up investigation into the incident. The investigation was later reviewed by the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office. As a result, charges were authorized and a warrant was obtained for Jamie Rogers.
The suspect has yet to be arrested and is still at large.

On May 4th, 2018, at around 10:00 PM, Officers from the Rockford Police Department were dispatched to Five Guys Burgers and Fries, 611 Highgrove Pl, in regards to an Armed Robbery to the business.
Officers met with several employees who reported that two suspects entered the business, while armed with handguns, and demanded money from the registers. The suspects were given an unknown amount of currency and fled the business on foot. The suspects are described as follows:
Suspect #1: Black male, unknown age, 5’10” 180lbs, wearing dark clothing, and a mask covering his face, armed with a handgun
Suspect #2: Hispanic or black male with a lighter complexion, unknown age, 5’07” 150lbs, wearing dark clothing that covered his face, armed with a handgun.
