Rockford Scanner™: Man Charged In Allegedly Killing A Rockford Man


Winnebago County State’s Attorney Marilyn Hite Ross announces charges against a Rockford man in reference to a murder that happened in April.

On April 7th, 2019, Rockford Police Officers were called to a home in the 600 Block of Alliance Avenue for a death investigation.  Officers found the body of a deceased male inside the home.

The victim was later identified as Samuel Randolph, 64 of Rockford. The Winnebago County Coroner’s Office conducted an autopsy and determined that Randolph died as a result of blunt force trauma to the body. Detectives conducted a follow up investigation that was recently reviewed by the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office.  As a result, First Degree Murder charges have been authorized against Douglas Williams (D.O.B. 1/13/1963). Williams is currently in custody at the Winnebago County Jail on unrelated charges. A $2 million warrant has been issued on the murder charges.


First Degree Murder is a Class M Felony that is punishable by a sentence of 20-60 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections with a possible extended term sentence of Natural Life followed by three years of Mandatory Supervised Release.


The charges are merely allegations and the defendant is presumed innocent until or unless proven guilty in a court of law.



Rockford Scanner™: Several police Officers Working A Scene on The West Side, Officer Needing Assistance


RPD said that is was a large fight.

RPD call log shows it as customer/management dispute.

Sources on scene said a large fight, employee injured and many kids running from the scene.

Numerous police from several jurisdictions were on scene.

Sources are reporting numerous cops working a scene in Rockford.

An officer was yelling he needed assistance at Skateco at 3209 N Main st in Rockford.

A source was talking to a police officer at a local gas station when the call came out. A 10-78 was put out and numerous officers from all over the area are en route.

Sources are reporting numerous police cars speeding excessively down N Main to get to the scene.

Please avoid the area, this is a dangerous situation.

Rockford Scanner™: Shooting incident on Rockford’s East Side, RPD Investigating

Sources are reporting a shooting incident on the East side.

It happened in the area of Pepper drive and Lansdale.

Reports of the suspects firing off several gunshots.

Unconfirmed reports of at least one shooting victim and property damage.

No suspect information.  RPD is investigating.

Fight with a family member ends with a gun being fired

Around 5pm Rockford Police were called to the 3500 block of Lansdale. Police said a 59 year old male (John Miller) had been in a fight with a 24 year old male family member. During the fight at least one shot was fired from a gun. There were no injuries reported. The suspect John Miller, was located at the scene and arrested. Miller has been charged with reckless discharge of a firearm and aggravated assault with a firearm.

Sources are reporting an armed man in Rockford.

It happened near N Second st and Y blvd around 10:30 pm.

Suspect is armed with a handgun.

Described as a white male driving a Black 2010 Ford Fusion with a temp plate # 596U853 that comes back to an address in the 900 block of  8th ave in Rockford.

Rockford Scanner™: Death investigation in Rockford

Sources are reporting a scene in Rockford.

A man in his 40’s was found dead in the 3500 block of Swan Trail in Rockford. That is located SE of Rockton and Riverside.

Emergency personnel are investigating. Unknown on the cause of death at this time.  No other information is available.


Rockford Scanner™: Numerous Overdoses In the Area Recently

There have been numerous Over Doses in the area recently.

The most recent is in the 200 block of Northway Park rd in Machesney Park.

Emergency personnel use narcan to revive the subjects. Many of the subjects who are revived then refuse medical treatment and leave the scene without getting any help to do it again.

Sources said users have said “We can Over Dose  and be brought back, so why limit ourselves to what we can do”

Last year an average of 3 people passed away every week in Winnebago County, due to Over Doses.

(AP) — Winnebago County in northern Illinois experienced a 28 percent increase in drug overdose deaths in 2018.

Coroner Bill Hintz says 159 people died of overdoses, averaging three such deaths per week last year. In 2017, 124 people died of drug overdoses in the county of about 295,000 people, up from 96 overdose deaths in 2016.

Hintz on Tuesday said fentanyl, heroin and cocaine were the three most common drugs found in people who died from a drug overdose. Coroner’s records show fentanyl, an opioid, was found in 102 bodies, heroin in 64 and cocaine in 50.

Hintz estimates about 30 people have died of overdoses in Winnebago County so far this year. He projects if that pace continues the number of fatal overdoses in 2019 might surpass 200.

Alleged suspect is a Lenard Jones, black male with glasses.

Sources are reporting a man was beaten up and robbed in Rockford.

Sources said a man was beaten pretty severely near Kishwaukee and Harrison ave. The man is laying on the ground and not moving and it appears the man may have been knocked out or is possibly dead.
