WIND CHILL ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 6 PM THIS EVENING TO NOON CST FRIDAY

* WHAT…Very low wind chills expected. Wind chills of 20 below to
30 below zero expected. A few locations may briefly drop under
30 below zero around daybreak Friday.

* WHERE…Portions of north central and northeast Illinois.

* WHEN…From 6 PM this evening to noon CST Friday.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…The low wind chills could cause frostbite
on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A Wind Chill Advisory means that cold air and the wind will
combine to create low wind chills. Frostbite and hypothermia can
occur if precautions are not taken. Make sure you wear a hat and
gloves.

The first significant shot of arctic air this season will bring bitterly cold conditions tonight through Friday. Expect gusty west winds tonight, which will produce wind chills of -20 to -30F area-wide and some blowing snow northwest.

A quick round of light snow will occur Friday afternoon into the evening, with up to an inch or two of accumulation possible. Due to the cold temps, road salt is ineffective, which will likely exacerbate the impacts the snow will have to the Friday evening commute.

Outside of continued very cold conditions, there will be additional chances for snow Saturday and Sunday, with a potentially significant snow system arriving late Sunday night.
