RPD:  Rockford Police say they were on patrol in the 200 block of South 6th Street on Saturday when they found a 25-year-old man lying in the grass, who had been beaten and robbed by a group of seven men.

According to police, around 5 p.m. officers spotted the victim lying in the grass just south of 1st Avenue.

The victim told officers that he had been walking in the 1000 block of 12th Avenue when seven men approached him and demanded his belongings. They then beat and robbed him.

The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment of his injuries. He is expected to make a full recovery.

Descriptions of the assailants were not given.

Around 3:30 PM several emergency personnel were responding to a serious accident on Rockford’s Eastside

 

There is a serious accident on Rockford Eastside in the area of 7th Street and  12th Avenue

At least one person is trapped and needs to be cut out of the vehicle so extrication is being requested

Multiple injuries are being reported,  at least two ambulances have been dispatched to the scene.

The cause of the accident is under investigation

Just before noon, several emergency personnel were responding to an accident with injuries. 

It happened in the area of 7th st and 12th ave. 

Reports of an auto accident near this intersection. 

Possible extrication was needed. When emergency personnel arrived on scene, they confirmed they did not need extrication. Multiple injuries were being reported. Several ambulances have been dispatched to the scene.

Rockford Scanner™: Police Stop Vehicle, Alleged Suspect Flees On Foot




 

 

 

Details are minimal. 

Around 1 am this morning several police officers had a vehicle stopped in an alleyway near 8th st and 12th ave. Sources are reporting the WCSO initiated a traffic stop near this location. At least one alleged suspect (unknown description) fled on foot Eastbound from the vehicle. 

A police K-9 was called in to search the vehicle and track the suspect.  
The dog went East from the vehicle.

It is unclear if they were able to catch the suspect, because the police K-9 did not track long.

There was a RPD paddy wagon nearby.
