UPDATE:

MURDER INVESTIGATION: On Monday, January 21, 2019, shortly before 4:00 p.m., patrol officers from the Rockford Police Department responded to a shots fired call in the 700 block of Kent Street. Upon arrival, officers located a 15-year-old male victim lying in the street suffering from a fatal gunshot wound to the head.

Based on the information available at this time, it is believed the victim was walking with a group of friends when they were confronted by an unknown number of suspects in a car. Shots were fired from the vehicle at the group, and the victim was struck and killed.

The identity of the victim is not being released pending family notification. Detectives from the Rockford Police Department are conducting a follow-up investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call investigators at 815-966-2900 or leave an anonymous tip with Rockford Area Crime Stoppers at 815-968-7867.


This is now a confirmed fatal shooting. They are asking for more sheets at the scene. Unknown why at this time.

Sources are reporting a shooting victim in Rockford.

It happened in the area of Ferguson and Kent around 4 pm.

There is at least one shooting victim near this location. The victim is located in the roadway near this intersection.

Update: The injuries are fatal.

At the time of writing this, unknown on the suspect information.

Note: This is near the Saint Anthony Church.
The local police use this as a mini HQ to warm up, etc…. But police said this murder has nothing to do with the church, other than the scene is located outside of it.

UPDATE: RPD has released this:
DEADLY SHOOTING: RPD is investigating a shooting that happened at approximately 4 p.m. Monday in the area of Kent Street and Ferguson. A male victim was pronounced dead on the scene. More info to come when available.

UPDATE: A suspect rammed a police car, the police fired shot at the suspect. Suspect was in a Blue 2001 Ford Focus with a plate of AP89823 comes back to an address at 2805 Edelweiss in Rockford. Sources said the alleged suspect is Alexandro Marquez. Hispanic male, medium build in his 20’s. Public records shows he has prior arrests for DUI and operating an uninsured motor vehicle and also possession of cannabis. Police are searching for this suspect.

A neighbor said there was a roadrage incident involving the off duty officer and the alleged suspect. A lot of screaming and fighting going on just prior to the shots being fired.


OFFICER’S VEHICLE RAMMED: On Sunday, January 20, 2019 shortly before 6:30 p.m., an off-duty Rockford Police officer was the victim of a vehicular assault in the area of 8th Street and 5th Avenue.

During the incident, the off-duty officer discharged their weapon at the suspect vehicle after it rammed the officer’s vehicle. The officer was transported to a local hospital as a precaution. There are no known injuries at this time. (Sources said one victim was shot, RPD is saying no shooting victim) The Winnebago Boone County Integrity Task Force was activated at the request of Chief Dan O’Shea and will investigate the incident. This is an active and ongoing investigation. More information will be released as it becomes available.

Shooting is in the area of  8th st and 5th ave

Numerous police on scene, sounds like they might be searching for a suspect in the area.  No other information at this time.

Cold Case of Natasha Cleary and her 2 young sons

 

Natasha Cleary and her two young sons Marquwon Owens, 12, and Katarion Friar, 2 were brutally murdered in April 2011 at their house on Canterbury Lane.

Officials said they died as a result of gun shot wounds.

After the murders the suspect(s) set the house on fire.

According to the Coroner’s report, “The autopsy did not show any soot in their trachea or lungs…they were all dead before the fire.“

And then later on the suspect tried to use her debit card at the ATM at Northwest Bank, 3106 N. Rockton Road.

Sources are reporting several emergency personnel in the 900 block of Harrison Avenue just before 2 AM this morning.

Sources said this is a shooting incident, we cannot yet confirm this.

Neighbor said they heard gunshots and someone screaming something about someone burglarizing the house.  They are also reporting they heard  other screams of people saying they were shot, just prior to the police arriving on scene.

Rockford police confirm an “in progress person” call at this location but would not provide any other details. In the past police had labeled shooting calls as an in progress person.

Rockford Scanner™: Police Investigating A Fatal Shooting

Death Investigation: 19-389
On Friday 01/11/19, the Ogle County Sheriff’s 911 center took a call in reference to a subject with a self-inflicted gunshot wound in Rochelle at 300 South Main St. #4. Rochelle fire and police personnel were dispatched to the scene.

Upon arrival, a deceased male subject was located in the living room, with an apparent gunshot wound to the head. Rochelle Police detectives, the Illinois State Police Crime Scene Unit and the Ogle County Coroner were called to the scene. The deceased is John M. Garza, 28, of Rochelle.

Witnesses on scene advised officers that the deceased subject had been playing with a handgun just prior to hearing a gunshot and finding the victim in the living room.
During the course of the investigation, it was learned that several subjects had fled the scene. The firearm used in the shooting could not be located and it was believed that one of the subjects who fled the scene had taken the gun.
Ogle County Sheriff’s detectives were called to assist in locating the missing witnesses. The Ogle County Sheriff’s drone was used to check the surrounding rooftops for the missing weapon, with negative results.

Detectives were able to locate the individuals that had been in the apartment at the time of the shooting and take statements from them. Detectives spoke to one of the witnesses who took them to the weapon that was allegedly used in the shooting. The weapon was recovered and will be sent to the Illinois State Police Crime Lab for processing.

The Ogle County Coroner’s Office will conduct an autopsy on Monday 01/14//19

Rockford Scanner™: BREAKING: Shots Fired During A Business Robbery in Rockford, Suspects Get Away

ATTEMPTED ARMED ROBBERY: On Sunday, January 13, 2019, shortly before 11:00 a.m. patrol officers responded to the Family Dollar, 715 Broadway, in reference to an attempted armed robbery. When they arrived, officers learned that a black male suspect wearing a mask had entered the business armed with a handgun. When the suspect confronted two employees, the employees attempted to flee. The suspect then fired two rounds from the handgun in the direction of the employees before fleeing the scene on foot. No one was injured during the incident and the suspect was unable to obtain anything of value from the business.

Detectives are conducting a follow-up investigation into the incident. The suspect is described as a black male in his late twenties, wearing a black hat with a light blue bandana over his face, black hoodie, gray pants, and white shoes.

Sources are reporting shots were fired during an armed robbery to a Rockford business just before noon today.

It happened at the Family Dollar store at Kishwaukee and Broadway.

Reports are saying 2 suspects went in to the business and robbed the store. During the robbery shots were fired. No reports of injuries at this time.

Numerous shell casings are being recovered at the scene

Employees are reported to be shook up, but OK.

No other information at this time.

UPDATE: Two shooting victims arrived at a local ER via self transport.

From RPD: On Saturday, January 12th, at around 3:40 AM, two Rockford residents were the victims of Aggravated Battery with a handgun while at a party in the 1500 block of West St. The victims had friends transport them to a local hospital for treatment of what turned out to be non-life-threatening injuries. This is an ongoing investigation. Anyone with information concerning this incident is encouraged to contact the Rockford Police Department or Crime Stoppers – 815 963 STOP (7867).

A victim has been shot in the 1500 block of West st in Rockford.

No suspect information, due to the encryption.

Sources are reporting numerous emergency personnel in the area of Hanson and Pershing around 7 pm. Neighbors are reporting they heard several gunshots just prior to the emergency personnel arriving on scene.

It is not clear yet, if there is a shooting victim. RPD confirmed an “In Progress Person” call at this location around this time.  In the past, RPD has labeled shooting victim calls as this.

RPD also confirmed 2 other shooting incidents (weapons violations)  in Rockford tonight.

No suspect in any of these incidents.
