It happened in the 800 block of N Court st around 11 am this morning.

Sounds like the suspect may have been armed with a knife or a similar object.

Rockford police have confirmed an attempted armed robbery.

No other information at this time.

Sources are reporting an armed robbery in Rockford.

Rockford police have confirmed the robbery, but have yet to release any information on the incident.

The armed robbery happened around 11:15 pm near Preston and Pierpont.

We been told the victim was injured during the robbery.  The alleged suspects are described as 2 black males wearing dark clothing and armed with a gun. Last seen on foot.  But again, RPD are encrypted and have yet to release any information so we can not confirm it.

  • 2700 block of Marshall Street: Rockford police confirmed an “in progress person”
  • 1800 block of 16th Ave.: Rockford police confirmed an “in progress person”
  • 2600 block of Charles Street: Rockford police confirmed an “in progress person”
  • Rockford police recovered stolen vehicles in these locations: 700 block of N. Bell School Rd. and the 4600 block of Red Bluff Dr.
  • 300 block of Underwood: Rockford police confirm “other disorderly”
  • Several emergency personnel tried to serve a warrant in the 3200 block of Glenwood Avenue
  • 1300 block of Magnolia Street: Rockford police confirmed a missing adult, but did not provide a description of the missing adult

Rockford Scanner™: BREAKING: Shots Fired During A Business Robbery in Rockford, Suspects Get Away

ATTEMPTED ARMED ROBBERY: On Sunday, January 13, 2019, shortly before 11:00 a.m. patrol officers responded to the Family Dollar, 715 Broadway, in reference to an attempted armed robbery. When they arrived, officers learned that a black male suspect wearing a mask had entered the business armed with a handgun. When the suspect confronted two employees, the employees attempted to flee. The suspect then fired two rounds from the handgun in the direction of the employees before fleeing the scene on foot. No one was injured during the incident and the suspect was unable to obtain anything of value from the business.

Detectives are conducting a follow-up investigation into the incident. The suspect is described as a black male in his late twenties, wearing a black hat with a light blue bandana over his face, black hoodie, gray pants, and white shoes.

Sources are reporting shots were fired during an armed robbery to a Rockford business just before noon today.

It happened at the Family Dollar store at Kishwaukee and Broadway.

Reports are saying 2 suspects went in to the business and robbed the store. During the robbery shots were fired. No reports of injuries at this time.

Numerous shell casings are being recovered at the scene

Employees are reported to be shook up, but OK.

No other information at this time.

Several sources are reporting a scene with multiple emergency personnel in the 400 block of S. Elida St. in Winnebago Just before 6:30 PM tonight.

Police do confirm there was a scene at this location but will not provide any other details at this time.

UPDATE:  Just a domestic issue.

Rockford Scanner™: Another Business In Rockford Was Robbed, Police Investigating

On 1-8-19 at approximately 8:24pm officers responded to 290 N Mulford Rd. (Subway) for an Armed Robbery to the business. The store clerk advised she was approached by two suspects who demanded money.

One of the suspects approached her from behind implying he had a weapon. The suspects ordered the clerk to open the register at which point they took an undetermined amount of USC. Both suspects then fled on foot.

Suspect #1 was described as a black male, 5’3″ tall, stocky build, wearing a black jacket and pants and had a scarf or mask over his face.

Suspect #2 was described as an unknown race female, 6’0″ tall, thin build, wearing a black hooded sweathshirt with a scarf or mask over her face. No one was injured during the incident.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Rockford Police or Winnebago County Crime Stoppers.

RPD releases information on a few scenes over the weekend.

Aggravated Battery w/ a Firearm: On Monday, January 7, 2019, at approximately midnight, Rockford Police officers responded to the 3100 block of Lapey Street in reference to a possible shooting. Upon arrival, officers met with the 66-year-old male victim who sustained a minor injury from gunfire striking his house several times. The victim did not seek medical treatment. No suspect information is available. Anyone with information should call Rockford Police at 815-966-2900 or Crime Stoppers at 815-963-7867.


Aggravated Robbery: On Sunday, January 6, 2019, shortly after 7:30 p.m., Rockford Police officers were called to Best Buy (281 Deane Drive) for a robbery. There, officers learned the 19-year-old suspect entered the store and loaded a cart with video gaming equipment. An employee approached the suspect, who then implied he had a weapon and fled the store. The suspect vehicle, a blue minivan, was located and stopped a short time later near East State Street and Mill Road. Officers took the four occupants in the minivan into custody. Upon further review of the case, the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office authorized the below listed charges.

Jakari Smith, 19, Rockford: Aggravated Robbery

Torrence Lewis, 21, Rockford: Aggravated Robbery

Smith and Lewis were lodged in the Winnebago County Jail. A 16-year-old female was taken to the Juvenile Detention Center for probation violation. The fourth person in the suspect vehicle was released without charges.

The charges against Smith, Lewis, and the juvenile female are merely accusations. They are considered innocent unless proven guilty in court.


Attempted Robbery: On Friday, January 4, 2019 at approximately 10:45 p.m., Rockford Police officers responded to Rockford Fire Station 2 (1004 7th Street) for a battery victim. Officers learned the 46-year-old male victim had been walking in the area of Kishwaukee Street and 15th Avenue when three male suspects approached him, struck him several times, and attempted to steal property from him. All three ran off empty-handed. The victim walked to the fire department and was then transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. On January 6th, 2019 at 12:42 AM Rockford Police Officers responded to The Fas Fuel Mart at 4106 Harrison Ave. to investigate an Armed Robbery. The victim clerk advised 2 black males entered the business and demanded money. At least one of the suspects was armed with a handgun. After demanding money from the clerk the suspects fled the area on foot. No one was injured during the robbery.

Suspect #1 described as a black male, 6 feet tall and heavy set. The suspect was wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt and black pants. The suspect was armed with a black handgun.

Suspect #2 described as a back male, 6 feet tall with a medium build. The suspect was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black pants.
