Around 3 am this morning an officer attempted to stop a vehicle in Boone County. The vehicle did not stop for the officer and was fleeing. A short time later the vehicle crashed into a pole. The driver fled on foot. He fled in the Fairgrounds Park/Prairie Fields area. (Business 20/Fairgrounds area) Officers are searching the area. They have brought in a K-9 to assist in the search for the suspect.
Update: The vehicle is a rental car from Iowa. Sounds like the suspect in question wants to turn himself in now and is at Harlem and N Second st in Machesney park.
Just before 7 PM the Rockford fire department were dispatched to 15th Ave. and Kishwaukee. Initial scanner traffic is saying that there’s an automobile accident with injuries near this intersection. A child is reported to be injured. Unknown on the severity of the injuries at this time.

On 03-03-2016 at 2:54 PM Officers responded to the area of S. 6th St. and 4th Ave. in reference to multiple calls of shots being fired in the area. On arrival Officers observed a Black Pontiac Grand Prix which sustained heavy front end damage from hitting a tree, and the vehicle been struck by several bullets. The vehicle was unoccupied, and several witnesses informed officers the occupants of the Pontiac Grand Prix had fled the scene west bound.
There was a second vehicle located at the intersection of S. 6th St. and 5th Ave. The second vehicle had a broken drivers side window which appeared to have been struck by a bullet, and this vehicle had drivers side front end damage. The second vehicle collided with the Pontiac during the incident. The driver of this vehicle sustained cuts to the face area from the broken glass, and she was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Witnesses to the incident described a silver possible Chevy Impala (suspect vehicle), occupied by 3-4 black males, drove along side the Black Pontiac Grand Prix, and unknown occupants from Chevy Impala discharged a handgun towards the black Pontiac Grand Prix. Suspect vehicle was last seen on 5th Ave.
Officers located (2) individuals near 4th St. and 4th Ave. Both of these individuals were determined to have been the persons who fled the Black Pontiac. One of these individuals believed he had been shot during the incident. He was transported to a local hospital where he was found to be not injured.
Around 5:45 am this morning emergency personnel were responding to the area of the 5500 block of Newburg. Scanner traffic is saying a vehicle hit a deer and then lost control and hit a pole. Unknown on injuries. No other information at this time.
Around 9:16 pm tonight the Rockford Fire Department were dispatched to the 3300 block of E State st. Scanner traffic is saying a vehicle has crashed into a stream near this location. The vehicle is smoking. Unknown on injuries. Possible extrication is needed. Still developing.
Update: 78 year old woman has passed away. She entered I-90 southbound from Rockton rd and collided with a northbound vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Name is being held pending family notification
Around 11:35 am this morning several emergency personnel were dispatched to I-90 near the mile marker #3 in the westbound lanes. Near the toll plaza. There is an auto accident near this location and injuries are being reported.
Update: A vehicle was traveling in the wrong way of traffic. Head on collision. Medical helicopter is on standby. Many lanes of traffic are blocked. People are trapped and extrication is needed
Update: Medical helicopters are unable to fly due to the weather. They are requesting additional units to the scene
Around 11 am this morning several fans have contacted us in regards to an auto accident near Mulford and Newburg. They said it appears there are injuries. The accident is blocking traffic, so please avoid the area.
Around 2:15 am this morning, An officer witnessed a van crash into a street light near State and Lyford and then take off from the scene. The van fled and the officer went after the vehicle. The van broke down a short time later and the officer initiated a traffic stop on it.
