Showers and thunderstorms are expected at times on Saturday, with the highest coverage of thunderstorms expected to be during the afternoon and evening. On Saturday morning, the focus for showers and isolated to widely scattered thunderstorms will be primarily over northwest and north central Illinois (darker green shaded area on map).

On Saturday afternoon, the focus for showers and thunderstorms will start out in the darker green shaded areas over northern and central Illinois and then gradually progress southeast through the evening ahead of a cold front.

The risks for severe weather and flash flooding are low (highest categories: 1 out of 5 for both). In any strong to severe thunderstorm that develops, the main threat will be damaging wind gusts. If you will be outside, have a plan to quickly get indoors if a t-storm approaches.
