Snow will continue over much of northern IL and northwestern IN this evening.

However, a gradual transition to a wintry mix of freezing rain and sleet is expected to occur from south to north later this evening.

Area roads are snow covered, and this will continue to result in hazardous travel across the area tonight.

Here are some snowfall totals as of 6 pm:
Chicago O’hare: 1.1″
Chicago Midway 3 SW: 1.0″
Rockford: 1.4″
Romeoville (NWS Office): 0.9″
