For the past several weeks, the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Department Narcotics Unit has been receiving complaints from concerned citizens regarding the sale of narcotics in the area of Longwood and Rural Streets in Rockford. Through the course of the investigation, Deputies were able to identify a residence in the 1100 block of Greenmount Street as the source of the narcotics sales.
On Friday, May 15, 2020, a search warrant was executed at the residence. Deputies located an amount of crack cocaine and a handgun during the course of the investigation. The resident, Jamelle J. Myers, 18, of Rockford, was also found to be currently out on bond for previous weapons and domestic battery charges. The Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office reviewed the facts of the investigation and authorized the following charges:
𝐉𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞 𝐉. 𝐌𝐲𝐞𝐫𝐬, (𝟏𝟎/𝟏𝟏/𝟎𝟏) 𝐨𝐟 𝐑𝐨𝐜𝐤𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐝
• Delivery of a Controlled Substance
• Distribution of a Look-a-Like Substance
• Bail Bond Violation

The charges against Myers are merely allegations and he is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
