On Tuesday, October 6th, 2020, Boone County Sheriff’s Detectives arrested a Poplar Grove man on Attempted 1st Degree Murder.
On Tuesday, October 6th, 2020, at approximately 6:25 pm, Boone County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a residence located in the 200 block of White Oak Drive, Poplar Grove, Illinois reference a subject who had been stabbed.
Upon arrival, Deputies discovered a 41 year old man who had been stabbed multiple times. The victim, who is not being identified, sustained non-life threating injuries. The alleged offender, who had fled the residence, was taken into custody at approximately 8:00 pm, after an intense man hunt by Boone County Sheriff’s Deputies.
Zachary Enk, 25 years old male from Poplar Grove, was charged with one count of Attempted 1st Degree Murder (Class X Felony) and one count of Aggravated Battery (Class 3 Felony). Enk remains in the custody of the Boone County Jail on a no bond.
The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are likely. A class X felony is punishable by six (6) to thirty (30) years in the Illinois Department of Corrections. A class 3 felony is punishable by two (2) to five (5) years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.
