National Weather Service and the Storm Prediction Center has updated their forecast and put Rockford in the middle of the bullseye for severe weather later today. We are smack dab in the middle of the “Enhanced” area for severe weather.
NWS said: Area of showers and strong to severe storms moves into the area around 4 PM CDT. The primary area of concern is along and north of I-80, although scattered storms can develop to the south. Primary concern with these storms is frequent lightning, strong winds, and heavy rainfall, with the possibility of a few brief tornadoes. The storms may last for an extended amount of time, and the threat is expected to remain into the evening hours as late as 10 PM CDT.
