Rockford Scanner: Pedestrian Hit By A Vehicle in South Beloit






The male is confirmed passed away.  A South Beloit police officer struck and killed the pedestrian. Police say the pedestrian was in the roadway when the officer was on patrol and struck the man. The victim is reported to be around 35 years old.  They are not releasing the name of the victim a this time.  The officer is reported to be on paid administrator leave. Winnebago County Sheriff Office is doing the investigation. 


This is an officer involved,  fatal pedestrian accident.  

As of 7:35 am, officials have not released any information, so they have not confirmed anything. 

There is a police squad car in the middle of the roadway in the southbound lanes with heavy damage to the drivers side of the squad car. 

The victims belongings and clothing was laying in the roadway in the northbound lanes. 

We have been told by sources that the person has possibly passed away. Officials have not confirmed this yet.
We can tell you CPR was reported to be in progress on the victim according to sources. 

Many officers are on scene.  They have Blackhawk blocked off in both directions.

Sources are reporting a bad accident near South Beloit. 

It happened around 2:30 am near Blackhawk, North of Collins. 

Reports of a vehicle that has hit a pedestrian. 

Injuries were being reported.  

Unknown if the vehicle stayed on scene. 

Reports that it appears to be pretty bad according to sources. 
Avoid the area.
