Update from RPD:

The 68-year-old female pedestrian has succumbed to her injuries.


Brief Synopsis: 

Sources are reporting a female pedestrian was struck by a vehicle at approximately 5:00 this evening in the area of S Alpine Road and Beach Street in Rockford.

The pedestrian is suffering from life threatening injuries and was transported by ambulance to a local hospital.

Also transported was a female from the vehicle to a local hospital for minor injuries.

There were reports of a possible large fight/some type of disturbance in the area around the same time as this accident. It’s unknown if the two incidents are related.

We will update if we receive further information.

Please avoid the area at this time.

Per RPD:

Rockford police officers are on the scene of a pedestrian traffic crash at S. Alpine Rd and Beach St. Please avoid the area for the next several hours. Thank you.
