Rockford Scanner™: Numerous Traffic Accidents Being Reported, Do NOT Drive unless You Absolutely Have Too…

  • by

UPDATE: Many area plows have chosen to not plow or salt, until the morning time.

Last we heard, they plan on coming out around 3-5am.

We have also been told the Rockford Airport is having a difficult time maintaining the runways,
due to how fast the snow is falling.

From the Rockford Police Department:

Multiple traffics crashes- The Rockford PD has received multiple calls for weather related traffic accidents.

Virtually all roads are in bad condition due to the heavy snowfall.

We would urge you NOT to drive anywhere unless it is absolutely necessary.

Many roadway s are “Inaccessible” to several sources.

As we type this, there are several accidents being reported all over the county.

3 Vehicles just crashed on I-90 near mile marker 1.

Do NOT travel unless you absolutely have too.

COMED is reporting 19 different outages they are currently working on.

including freezing rain. Total snow and sleet accumulations of
4 to 7 inches and ice accumulations of up to around one tenth of
an inch.

will impact the Tuesday evening and likely the Wednesday

the combined effects of heavy wet snow, some icing, and wind

If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in
your vehicle in case of an emergency.
