Rockford Scanner: Child Hit By A Truck, Avoid The Area For Several Hours

FATAL TRAFFIC ACCIDENT: Guilford Road, from Mulford Road to Country Farm Road will be closed for the next several hours.

On July 2, 2020, at approximately 3:15pm, Winnebago County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the 5900 Block of Guilford Road after a report that a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle. Upon arrival, deputies discovered that a two year old female child had been struck and subsequently transported to a Rockford hospital. The child was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

During the preliminary investigation it was determined that the child was struck by the driver of a commercial vehicle traveling eastbound on Guilford Road. The driver remained on scene.

The Winnebago County Sheriff’s Department is conducting the investigation and no further information will be released at this time.

 

UPDATE: A 2 year old female has passed away 




Sources are reporting an accident scene on the East side. 

Reports of a child that was hit by a truck near the 5900 block of Guilford around 3:15 pm today. 

Unknown on the severity of the injuries.
(Update: 2 year old female has passed away)

WCSO is handling the accident scene, RPD is assisting with traffic control. 

The area is blocked off for awhile, while police conduct their investigation. 

No other information at this time.
