Bitter cold arctic air and blustery winds can be expected today, with a few flurries at times. Lake effect snow showers will develop in northwest Indiana this afternoon, and may drift west to Chicago by tonight. Temperatures will gradually moderate into mid-week, with generally dry conditions expected. The potential for periods of wintry precipitation return for the latter half of the week.

Wind chill readings range from -10 to around -20 this morning, and a little colder in some spots west and southwest of Chicago.
