Rockford Scanner™: Attempted Robbery To A South Beloit Business

On January 22, 2020 at approximately 2300 hours, South Beloit Police Officers were dispatched to the Mobil gas station at 810 Blackhawk Blvd. for a subject that was running from the business wearing a mask. Upon arrival, officers learned that the male had been hiding outside of the business. Officers located the subject in the area and found him to be in possession of a ski mask, gloves, a backpack, and a black bb gun.

This case was reviewed by the Winnebago County States Attorney’s Office whom authorized the following charges:

Arrested: 18 year old Mekel JL Gordon, formerly of South Beloit

Charge: Attempted Armed Robbery (Class 1 Felony)

Mekel was lodged in the Winnebago County Jail.

He is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
