From RS source: They said a woman was able to successfully talk a man down from jumping off the bridge.

From NPFD:

This afternoon at 3:19pm, North Park units were dispatched for a report that a person had jumped from the Bauer bridge into the Rock River. North Park responded with our boat and multiple personnel, and requested Loves Park Fire to assist with their boat at well.

The Winnebago County Sheriff’s deputies on scene felt that the call had credibility, so both boats searched the water and shorelines south of the bridge and found no one in the water. Not knowing where the person had jumped, and with heavy currents due to recent rainfall – divers were not considered a safe option this afternoon.

Fortunately, a male matching the description (and later confirmed as the individual suspected of jumping) was found walking nearby the shore so search operations were suspended. The scene was turned over to the Winnebago Sheriff’s Department for further investigation of the matter.

Thanks as always to the Loves Park Fire Department personnel who never hesitate to assist.
