Police Arrest A Juvenile For A Stolen Vehicle & A Gun With An Extended Magazine

AGGRAVATED UNLAWFUL USE OF A WEAPON: On Tuesday, October 12, 2021, at approximately
12:00 a.m., Rockford Police SCOPE officers observed a vehicle listed as stolen out of Chicago in
the 200 block of Whitman Street. When officers attempted to stop the vehicle in the 300 block
of S. Johnston, the two occupants of the vehicle exited and fled on foot. A perimeter was
established and a Rockford Police K9 located a loaded gun with an extended magazine in the
2300 block of Green Street and subsequently, one of the suspects, a 15-year-old juvenile male
was located in a yard in the 2300 block of Chestnut Street and taken into custody.
The Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office reviewed the facts of the investigation and
authorized the charges listed below.

Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon by a Gang Member
Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon (No Valid FOID)
Aggravated Fleeing
Possession of Ammunition
Resisting Arrest
Possession of a Stolen Auto
