Officers Doing A Drug Investigation, Arrest A Man For Warrants & Drugs After A Struggle With Officers

On Thursday, February 6, 2020, at approximately 1:00 p.m., the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Narcotics Unit along with the Sheriff’s Tac Team conducted a narcotics investigation in the 3300 block of Auburn Street. While in the area they saw a person, later identified as Dashea Harris, drive a car into a parking lot, park and enter a nearby store. Harris was wanted on a $150,000 arrest warrant for a domestic related strangulation.

Deputies approached Harris in the store and attempted to place him under arrest. Harris resisted their attempts to handcuff him and, after a short struggle, was taken into custody. During a search of Harris and his car, deputies located 72 individually wrapped bags of heroin and a small amount of crack cocaine. A female in the car, Letrice Lilly, had an arrest warrant for criminal damage to property and a United States Marshal’s hold.

Dashea Harris of Rockford, was charged with possession with intent to deliver 1 to 15 grams of heroin, possession with intent to deliver less than 1 gram of cocaine, resisting a peace officer, driving with a revoked license and lodged in the Winnebago County jail on a $150,000.00 bond.

Letrice Lilly of Rockford was lodged in the Winnebago County jail on $1000.00 bond for an outstanding arrest warrant for criminal damage to property and a hold placed on her from the United States Marshal’s Service.

The charges against Harris and Lilly are merely allegations and both are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
