NWS Releases Information On This Mornings Snowfall Event



Snow will continue through mid-morning, mixing with and eventually changing to rain by noon.

The snow will be moderate to briefly heavy at times, especially prior to 9 a.m.
Allow extra travel time as some of the roads will be slippery!

This photo below is from Rockford but is common across northern Illinois and far northwest Indiana early this morning.
Roads are slippery with snow and the temperature near freezing.

Temporary very low visibility is occurring in snow, especially over the Chicago area through daybreak.
Allow extra travel time!

Snowfall reports through 6 a.m.:
Rockford: 1.7″
Romeoville: 1.5″
Homer Glen: 1.5″
Near Midway: 0.4″
O’Hare: 0.1″
Normal first date of 1+” of snow in Rockford is Dec. 5 (for Chicago is Dec 7).
